Mangalore, Jan 12: In connection with the theft at Rajdhani Jewellers at Thokottu on Thursday January 10, police on Friday January 11 produced the arrested thief Luka Ninidze alias Sanoos (48) from Georgia in court. Efforts are on to trace the other accomplices in Goa.

On Thursday, Luka along with another two others - a foreigner and a man from Kerala - went to the jewellery store posing as customers and stole a bracelet and two bangles and fled from the spot. Later when the owner checked the CC camera, the incident came to light.

The police were soon informed and after an intense pursuit in which the locals helped too, Sanoos was caught at Mulky while the other too escaped. Their car was also seized and items like burkha, fake number plates, ganja, fake keys and so on were found.

With the help of mobile phone tracker, it is learnt that the others have been taking refuge in Goa. The Ullal police team has left for Goa to arrest them.

Police sources said that Sanoos has not been cooperating with the investigation. During interrogation, he claimed that he does not English and replied to questions in Russian.

Visa Expired

Sanoos is said to be living in India for the past two years. He had come via Nepal as indicated in his passport, said police sources. It is learnt that Luka has been residing illegaly in the country as his visa has already expired.
