Anzhi Denies Beckham Contract Rumour

Moscow, Jan 12 (IANS): Russian football team Anzhi Makhachkala denied rumours of signing a contract with David Beckham.

The reports about a possible big spending contract between the renowned British football player and Anzhi were "complete nonsense" team chairman Konstantin Remchukov said Friday, reports Xinhua.

"An idea like this hasn't been floated even once," said Remchukov on Twitter, calling such reports sheer rumours.

Earlier, local media reported the proposed two-year contract with the 37-year-old former England captain.

Beckham has spent the past six seasons with Los Angeles Galaxy, leading Los Angeles to an MLS Cup title last season when they defeated the Houston Dynamo 1-0.

After leaving Galaxy by the end of last year, Beckham has been linked with a number of European, South American and Australian clubs recently, but where he will go remains a mystery.
