Bangalore: Jolt to common man - Nandini milk prices go up by Rs 4

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Feb 9: Through an order that has come into effect from Saturday February 9 morning, Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has hiked the prices of all types of milk and curds marketed by it, by four rupees a litre across the board. The people, who are already reeling under unprecedented price rise, have got another jolt in the form of milk price hike. ‘Samriddhi’ brand of milk, however, has gone up by only two rupees a litre.

The state government since long, had been putting off milk price hike proposed by KMF, and KMF chairman, Somashekhara Reddy, had threatened to affect the price rise unilaterally, in view of the losses suffered by KMF, increased expenses on the part of farmers, and price parity with neighbouring states.

A meeting of the board of directors of KMF held on Friday morning that was chaired by Reddy decided on the above hike. It is learnt that the government has given the go ahead to KMF orally.

It may be recalled that Karnataka government also distributes subsidy at the rate of two rupees per litre to dairy farmers. The last price hike was affected by KMF about a year ago. Consumers of dairy products in Dakshina Kannada, Bellary, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bijapur and Gulbarga districts, who were already paying a rupee per litre of KMF dairy products over and above the prices prevailing in other districts, will continue to do so.

All becoz of the disgusting governance at the center and at the state level, prices of everything is going up...We pay taxes and all that sits in bank accounts of the politicians and after that also they want more money coz their friends(MNC/Nandini/Reliance) wants to make money. So they increase prices of basic needs, coz they know we AAM AADMI is helpless and could not do anything other than being EXPLOITED AND RAPED by them DAY IN AND DAY OUT....

Soon, in INDIA these corrupt politicians and bureaucrats would ask us to PAY TAX FOR BREATHING IN INDIA...

I hate these buggers and looters..The british stole 1 Lakh crore from 1820 to 1947. And these so called Indian have looted 2.6 Lakh crore in 60 years...And will continue raping the nation and AAM AADMI.

We see around that we Indians generally tend to put more milk in ourt Tea & Coffee. This is really not congenial for health. Also we should put less sugar as well .

Lime Tea tastes delicious and requires no milk at all.
Black tea is good for health and really no milk is required to be added.

Drink your coffee black for following 2 valid reasons:

    1. Learn the taste of real coffee.

Recognize the notes of the actual coffee bean all that can be tasted is the slight bitterness of the coffee. Drinking coffee black allows you to pickup of the subtle differences from bean to bean and different roasts.

    2. Do it for your health:

Black coffee is calorie and sugar free, it contains fiber and we know that regular consumption of coffee decreases the risk of type type 2 diabetes.

The milk prices can be reduced if the state government can provide cattle feed at a subsidized rate. The milk prices go up because domesticating cattle has become expensive .The demand for milk will rise day by day but the supply remains same. At the same time the cost of transport and other labor cost go up very often. The milk supply will increase if the price goes up.
Many conventional farming have closed down because of the high cost involved. I would say milk price should be one dollar per liter then every household will have a cow and every one will control the cow slaughter. We cannot ban cow slaughter but we can control it. The people who at present control the cattle movement are not at all interested in domesticating them but they need cows only for public rally decoration.
The so called goshaalas mushroomed with state government funding are not at all contributing towards milk production. The cows deposited there may disappear after some time because the intentions are decisive.

Certainly, one will empathize will diary farmers, but look at the data. Milk at Rs.16/- three years back, now at Rs.28/-. 75% increase translating to 25% increase every year. This is while there are reports that a number of tonnes of milk powder of Nandini / KMF are sitting in godowns without buyers. There is report of scams worth several crores in buying cattle feed at KMF. A lot of politicking has been reported in senior KMF appointments. Obviously, the administration of KMF needs a lot to be desired. In this background, the price hike does not certainly seem normal. In any case, in few more years, co-operatives will be history and most of the diary business will be with private diaries, once retail in FDI starts kicking in. This may be beneficial for farmers and consumers.

We consumers need to more than 4rs for 1 liter of milk as the Shop keepers charge 2 to 3 rs more as refridgeration charge. In the end we the consumers get affected. Government or the athority needs to do somethng to stop this malpractices done by the shopkeepers who are minting money.

One good way of protecting cows and doing away with Go hatya....

Why the present budget doesnt allocate funds to the owners of cows...so that we give some incentives to cow owners..which result in multiplying the number of cows, increase milk production, increase organic manure which leads to in milk prices in our state....if the supply of milk is more than demand, the price will come down and aam admi shall be benefitted....

@McQueen, Mangalore... Its good idea. Then only you will fell the pain of dairy farmers. When the price increase comes to farm produce many people feel the pain even if it is Rs.4/- but same people are ready to spend any amount for luxurious things. When the dairy farmer is struggling to get good price for his yield this increase is peanuts either for him or the consumer. Anybody feels that this increase is too much, please check the prices of various types of cattle feed, fodder & also labour cost & visit a dairy farmer. Only then you will realise what I really say here...

This is the double standard of BJP govt. Instead of giving crores to religious institutions, he could have allocated these monies for subsidising the milk so that common man is benefitted...With the budget common man is driven to commit suicide and rich is encouraged to amass wealth.....This is the reality..

In olden days almost every household in villages used to have one or two Cows but these days it appears that practice has become out of fashion. Therefore, Milk prices will surely go up. As India lives in its villages we need to strengthen our village ties and build strong society. Factory and farm are the important areas of development. We need to look at it in a holistic manner.

The consumers are @ receiving end as RS 4 increase indeed is heavy. It is double edged results as Milk producer may get benefit .KMF, under govt supervision is one of the most corrupt corporation in Karnataka. The administrators could have been explored other possibilities to minimize price increase.
