Mangalore Taluk Mandal Okutta to celebrate Silver Jubilee on March 9

Mangalore, Mar 5: "Mangalore Taluk Mahila Mandal Okutta will be celebrating its silver jubilee celebration and annual sports meet along with a talent show on March 9 Saturday at the committee building, Urwa stores, in the city", said Vijayalakshmi B Shetty president of Mangalore Taluk Mahila Mandal.

She also added in the press meet held at the press club in the city that the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual efforts should not be wasted instead it should utilized in the right manner.

The committee also made enormous efforts to create awareness about the social evils on women, creative works, training camps, education for women, different training for self-employment; the committee has also been useful in providing justice to the women in their family problems.

Special importance has been given for cultural programmes. The committee also helped in providing funds from chief minister and prime minster relief funds for those who suffered from various diseases and also helped in providing the widow pension, old age pension and helping the old-aged to get their identity cards. 

Collaborating with other organizations, the committee has also protested and held rallies against the violation of women rights, assault, harassments on women. Presently, the Mahila Mandal committee has built its own office and is celebrating its silver jubilee soon.

Jyothi Jagadesh director of Spoorthi Medical tutorial will be inaugurating the sports meet.

The events include, Mono act (ekka Patrabhinaya), Speech competition, Rangoli, flower arrangement, ring throw, throw ball, picking the grains through the straw, lucky women, Magic Carpet. The competitors should be present before 9 am.

The stage programme which will be held on March 9 at 11:45 am will be inaugurated by Dr R Rathidevi Gynecologists and Obstetricians, with presidential presence of Shakunthala A assistant director of child women development department.

Shalini Pandith, former president of Mahila Sabha will distribute the prizes to the winners.

Honorary president KA Rohini, Shaila S Rao, vice president KA Pushpavathi, Shankari T Alva joint secretary , Devaki Achutha treasurer was present on this occasion.
