Mangalore: JD(S) in jeopardy - 60 members resign, more to follow

JD(S) imbroglio: Will expose M G Hegde in couple of days - M B Sadashiv

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Mar 25: Following the mass resignation by JD(S) members and the allegations levelled by M G Hegde during a press meet here on Monday March 25, JD(S) district president M B Sadashiv contacted daijiworld and issued the following clarification:

Quote

"M G Hegde who joined our party a year ago had so many ambitions and aspirations, as he had earlier in his erstwhile parties of BJP and Congress where he had his honeymoon earlier. The moment he joined the party he was aiming for something and he was trying to sabotage the unity in our party. He joined alone and he has no followers of his own. He tried to divide the party and find the some followers with him. His ultimate aim was to capture power and money.

"During the recent election he has been very active collecting application forms and issuing B-forms according to his whims and fancies. There are allegations that he has collected money from each candidate. In some cases he has collected money from people for filling up forms also.

"In his desperate attempt to become the district president he left no stones unturned. Knowing his background, in this secular party such individuals will never be supported by anyone. His allegations are baseless, meaningless, and show his own character. We have enough proof and also recorded documents of M G Hegde, and his deeds will be exposed in a couple of days. The number and the names he has quoted are ficticious and misleading. The party rank and file are solidly with the district unit and they look at state president Kumaraswamy and not M G Hegde.

"When there was no one to carry the flag of the party for the last thirty years people like us have sacrificed our energy time and money and will continue to do so. We will take it as a challenge and see that we muster more strength and show to these people that secularism prevails."

Mangalore: JD(S) in jeopardy - 60 members resign, more to follow

Pics: Spoorthi Ullal
Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, Mar 25: Spelling further trouble for JD(S), as many 60 members including top party leaders have submitted their resignations.

This was revealed by M G Hegde, who quit the party two days ago. Addressing a press meet here on Monday March 25, he said the members submitted mass resignations as they were unable to bear 'the mental torture, differences and internal conflict in the party'.

"Nagaraj Shetty, Sadanand Shetty, I and several others did not knock on JD(S) doors, instead it was JD(S) chief Kumaraswamy who approached us to join and strengthen the party here. After joining, we realized that it was not a party as such, but rather a money making business taking place under the banner M B Sadashiv and company," he alleged.

Admitting that there had been cold war ever since they joined the party, Hegde said, "M B Sadashiv does not want the party to win the elections, instead he creates dummy list of candidates and collects money from the party state president which never reaches the hands of the contestants.

"In all our works, whether it was our movement against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Sangh Parivar or others, we were stopped by M B Sadashiv, Amarnath Shetty, Mohammed Kunhi and others which clearly shows that they felt insecure when we worked. Despite so much injustice meted out to us, we were patient enough mainly because of Kumaraswamy, but now the situation has worsened with sincere leaders like district minorities cell chief D M Aslam and district general secretary Shashiraj Shetty getting suspended. This is what made us resign," he said.

"Even when Nagaraj Shetty joined the party, M B Sadashiv and Kunhi were dead against his entry, as they felt they would lose importance, and when it came to declaration Sadanand Shetty as candidate for the post of MLA, again they opposed it. Sadashiv is not okay with any of the party decision and what is his intention in doing so is a million dollar question," said M G Hegde.

"It was Sadanand Shetty, Aslam, Shashiraj, Nagaraj Shetty and others who lent their financial support in the urban local body election. In spite of working so hard for the party, M B Sadashiv points out mistakes," he said.

Hegde also informed that Sadanand Shetty has decided not to contest for the post of MLA.

Asserting that they will not return to JD(S), he said that they had made an appeal earlier to JD(S) chief Kumaraswamy to terminate M B Sadhashiv if he wanted them to re-join the party. "But no positive response was received," he added.

M G Hegde warned that this was the first stage of mass resignations where 10 senior leaders and 50 others, altogether around 60 people, have resigned and more are expected to resign in the next 2-3 days.

B Nagaraj Shetty, state vice-president, M G Hegde, state secretary, Shaukath Ali, former Konaje gram panchayat president, Uday Kumar, Ranjith Malli, Pradeep Karkera, P B Basheer, Sudarshan Bantwal, Harish Shetty, Rajeev Poojary, Sumathi K Shetty, Sunil Poojary, Ravi Shankar, Rajesh Shetty, Anoop Rai, Lokesh Bhandary, Premdas, MP Narayan, Abdul Suratkal, Ashraf Ullal, Abdul Khader, Praveen Poojary, Sharmith Jain, Sharath, Yashwanth were among those who resigned.

Mr. Rakesh Shetty may prove right. The Congi supported Keshubahi in Gujarat elections and he eroded their vote bank. Now Congi is supporting Yeddy, he already eroded the JDS voted bank (they lost nearly 600 seats from previous elections) in recently held Civic polls within 3 months from the formation of KJP and will ruin both Congi and Appa Maga party's chances of winning 'coz traditional BJP vote bank will not move away from them. KJP has to get votes from either Appa Maga Party or Scamgress only.
