Strict regulations on driving, traffic rules have to be implemented in place and drivers have to be educated on hazards, dangers of irresponsible driving and make them realize their responsibility towards the society and to have respect for every human life.

The only solution to the Sacred Heart Spot is two or three speed breakers where traffic can slow down from both the sides,Municipality and Traffic department should take strong decision on fixing speed breaker on this road as soon as possible, because we see innocent children always crossing the street while going to school and fanatic drivers that always in a hurry to kill people.

"DRIVING IS AN ART" so nobody is perfect. It's the duty of the driver to drive carefully depending on the road conditions and equally it's the responsibility of the pedestrains as well, to save themselves from such tragedy by being alert besides the road AND WHILE TRYING TO CROSS THE ROAD BETWEEN THE MOVING TRAFFIC as the driver will only concentrate in saving his vehicle and not the public on road during the course of an accident,it's bcoz he knows very clearly and clever enough, that he will be out from the jail on bail with the help of the defending Lawyers who are also behind money in spite of such an offence he has done by killing somebody below his vehicle. Heavy penalty depending on the depth of the crime(accident) will only help to reduce accidents on Mangalore roads.people are not at all afraid of the law as it has lot of loop holes to escape and needs a lot of changes in the law depending on the present days situation and the court fines are not so hefty which were regulated in the 19th century during the British rule in India. Everyone on the road as well as the pedestrians want to reach first,so nobody has patience to wait for their turn to come instead rush to be ahead and finally this is the result,"PEDESTRIAN DEAD IN ROAD ACCIDENT AND DRIVER ABSCONDING".

These days are things geting worse..neither the driver will follow the rules nor the padestrians..sometimes we see them more callous than animals while crossing the roads. so kindly dont always throw the blame on driver..it is our responsibility too..to take care of ourself.

I have been in vacation last month in Mangalore while I was riding two wheeler and four wheel some of the drivers are overtaking their vehicles from left side without horn and/or without any indication to me/us instead of right in the two lane roads that also too fast because we are concentrating front and right side only. Most of the drivers are driving their vehicles between the two lanes instead of one lane because one lane is not sufficient to them to drive not in the busiest roads (example Kavoor –Bondel- Mangalore four lane roads). In the evening it is very difficult to ride two wheel because of vehicles/ heavy vehicles drivers are driving their vehicles too fast with high beam halogen lights without changing low beams light even in rural single lane roads/narrow roads how can one ride safely with heavy rays of this halogen lights. Is it possible? I noticed many worst things in Mangalore district traffic . RTO should streamline thousand things in the traffic and while RTO is issuing the licenses tests should be done in a toughest way to avoid such frequent accidents. In Saudi Arabia even we cannot change the track/lane while we are crossing the signal either U turn, left turn & straight immediately camera will catch vehicle number and penalty of SR 500 to his ID (equivalent to INR 7500). If such type of systems implement in our country/Karnataka with heavy penalty then only we can make safest way of driving without losing thousands of innocents’ lives.

    Ms.Ayes P., Mangalore/KSA

It's request without knowing don't degrade our country. Our Driver's are efficent and are doing less accidents as compare to our population. They are fit in any other country. Ofcourse, some deaths occured it's from there mistake due to over-speeding/over-taking other vehicle.

Road accidents in Saudi Arabia have been recorded as the highest in the world. That an average of more than 17-20 Saudi's die on the country's roads each day. During 2008-09, nearly 6,485 people had died and more than 36,000 were injured in over 485,000 traffic accidents. Nearly 30% of traffic accidents in the Saudi capital Riyadh were due to drivers jumping red lights, followed by 18% of accidents caused by illegal U-turns. The study identified speeding, sudden stops and speaking on the phone while driving as the most common dangerous driving activities.

Saudi Arabia has recorded four million traffic accidents, which has led to 86,000 deaths and 611,000 injuries, 7% of which resulted in permanent disabilities, in the past two decades. The study was conducted after World Health Organization (WHO) rated Saudi Arabia as having the world's highest number of deaths from road accidents.

The Kingdom received five points out of ten in applying speed limits, two out of ten in applying helmet wearing for motorcycle riders and cyclists, five out of ten in applying seatbelt regulations and two out of ten in ensuring children’s safety in vehicles in the WHO rating.

Saudi Arabia will have over 4 million traffic accidents a year by 2030, if the increasing number of road accident rates is not curbed.

Don't sit abroad..and tell anything as u need.. Jai Hind..

I am sure your head is Bollu. In KSA the roads are of the world standard and have been laid planned considering the traffic growth for at least next 50 years. I agree the fatalities are high but comparing India and KSA is wrong. The ownership of vehicles is poor compared to Saudi where the vehicle ownership is high. If the fatalities are compared based as a percentage of people who owned the vehicle and the accidents India will top the list. For your kind information India is loosing more people due to accidents then the total people died during the world war. And this is happening yearly. There is no proper compensation for the victims families as well. The people who suffer because of the injury miserable in India where as in KSA atleast you get a proper compensation for the victims. In Saudi you can find more expats who come from different cultures and this is also one of the main reason for the increased fatalities.

What you said is absolutely right. I fully agree with you. Are you appreciating infrastructure of saudi arabia..?? what you mean to exactly. Saudi Arabia's population may be around 30-35 million..same as population of either delhi or mumbai. While looking accidents occuring in rapid space..what will happen after fifty years.. when total population cross same like India..around 1400 millions..or say 400 millions!! Are they able to control so huge population.. Can infrastrcture tackle so much population who are having vehicles due to cheap rate of petrol...?? Petrol can only available for the period for 70-90 years..what will happen after..??? What happen now to Bruneai/Oman/UAE...is still availability of petrol as happened last twenty years..?? Still India can managable as compare to othere countries..in all respects in all matters..!! Highest rate of accidents in Saudi Arabia is based on report of WHO...Jai Hind...

IN INDIA THERE IS NO RULES AND REGULATION IN TRAFFIC. SAME ROAD 25 YEARS FROM NOW AND IT WILL REMAIN AFTER 25 YEARS TOO. TRAFFIC IS MORE AND ROADS ARE SAME.

Licenses to drive are issued without the driver being properly trained and tested. Further at least 50% of the drivers on the road, if retested as per international standards will fail the driving test. Police stop vehicles with tint however when they stop to remove the tint, they never ask the driver his license and registration papers.
