Mangalore, Apr 4: Two brothers were killed in an accident when a bus rammed into their two-wheeler at Yekkur here on Thursday April 4 morning.

The deceased have been identified as Umar Rashid and his brother Mohammed Naushad, aged around 22 and 25 years, and sons of Mohammed Abdul Khader. They are said to be residents of Thokkottu.

Rashid and Naushad

The brothers attended to loading and unloading work at the old Bunder area in the city. They were going to their place of work on Thursday, when the accident occurred.

Rashid, who was working in a medical store earlier, is said to have quit his job and begun working as loader in Bunder. He had also finished his BCom.

Mohammed, who had one daughter and three sons, has lost two sons at one go. His other son works in a foreign country. Naushad, in spite of being dumb and deaf,  was known as an efficient worker.

The accident occured when a Sharada bus plying from Thokkutu rammed into their bike while trying to overtake. Both vehicles were moving in the same direction.

The brothers were killed on the spot.

The bodies were taken to Wenlock.

Mangalore rural police have registered a case.

In Mangalore most of the Rickshaw drivers graduate to be a city Bus driver then Udupi Mangalore shuttle/express and super express buses and finally Mangalore Mumbai bus drivers but they never forget about the Rickshaws they were driving so until the end any vehicle they drive in their brain it still registers as "Auto Rickshaw" only thing we need to totally prevent accidents make it Mandatory to use only Volvo which has come up with Collision prevention technology you can watch this in You tube since Volvos are being manufactured in India we can make it mandatory to have only these vehicles with that latest technology to ply our roads or other companies to come up with such technology also the two wheeler's should wear all protective gears not only the Helmet but rest of the body too strict implementation of safety gears and awareness of this would considerably reduce the future fatalities !

There must be changes in traffic rules like 2 years imprisonment and 2 lack fines for death caused in anyone’s driving fault and also it should be a non-bail able. License should be suspended for life time. Even it is 2 wheelers or 4 wheelers. And for public transport and passenger carrying vehicle drivers 5 years imprisonment. And vehicle should be scrapped with government authorities. Then only we expect the peaceful travelling in our roads.

    RIP
Being fully aware that we in Karnataka pay the highest road taxes in the country we have the best Road, Transport and Infrastructure Development happening when compared to the increase in population and traffic. We have witnessed and will continue to witness such instances until it is our turn one day. Every incident will just be new to read and we will continue living like dumb citizens with no value for our own life and life of others. This is our fate until we, our leaders and officials remain corrupt and we continue living our life like irresponsible citizen doing things that we should not do and blaming others during these eye opening incidents.

all those who frequently travel thokkotu-pumpwell route know that some ed buses run very rash even after many accidents, many have luckily escaped accidents from their rash driving- some bus names are familiar- sharada, vrashaba, mahesh. No one might have seen these buses running carefully.

Innaalilla..wa inna ilaihi raajihoon! In maximum number of road accident cases in our place, two wheelers are involved and so many lives are lost on the road. LIttle more care and caution could save many lives. My humble request to all my brothers who ride bikes is, to ride your vehicles with average/controllable speed, follow basic road disciplines and pay attention while driving. May god bless all of us!!

DL of BUS/Truck drivers should be cancelled till it is proved that proved that accident is not due their fault. More over strict action should be taken on over speeding vehicles including cancellation of permit.
Two wheeler drivers should wear ISI mark helmets otherwise they should be fined heavily for 1st time offense and DL should be suspended for 6 months for 2nd offense. this should be noted in the DL.

Death is solely because of head injuries. I have been writing and insisting on the DCs to make hard hats complusory for both rider and pillion rider. If helmets were made compulsory, we coud save many young lives from being lost to accidents. But the administration is sleeping and people dont give serious thoughts to wearing helmets and ignore their own safety, until and unless such accidents take the lives of their own family members..May the departed souls rest in peace.

Many times accidents occure in this place due to overtaking another vehicle... after so many such kind of accidents in this junction sad to see our district administration still sleeping!!!!!!

This boils down to management- Traffic control-speed- lighting- clean and clear roads- Road marking- proper bus stops-
over head bridges- zebra crossings- street signals -street lights - stop signals and signs
this is the work of the city authorities - instead of watching porno on mobiles and drinking tea and wasting time -get down to the streets and look at every area of developt.
not to see how much money you can LOOT From the public?
Check any city in Germany-europe -japan -Dubai-singapore-if they can have modern city -then why are we different?
arent we also same human beings?
    did they come from heaven.
All this needs : CHARACTER -Correct attitude-caring fo r fellow humans .
wE LIVE LIKE HUMANS and not live like animals.
Never have i seen such CHAOS AND DISASTER NO DISCIPLINE ALL BINDAAS ATTITUDE ON THE ROADS AND STREETS LIKE- INDIA.

    Mr. RTO,
It’s high time that you make your presence felt. AGAIN two young lives are lost in Mangalore roads.
Buses are being driven menacingly at breakneck speed right in the City hence over speeding is but obvious in the Highways. Vacuum Horns are being used by the Buses to scare the motorists. At peak hours buses are overcrowded but still driven at alarming speed.
Your department has disfigured most Cars by removing the Sun films on the Car window panes without even having a METER to check the films’ transparency!
Even though there was an accident due to the negligence of RTO Officials resulting in a fatality just 2 weeks back, yesterday I observed that they are back to business doing the same thing and abruptly stopping heavy vehicles.
A few weeks back, my two wheeler was stopped by the Traffic Police near Mahaveer Circle (Pumpwell). They arrogantly asked me for the documents. When I showed them all the documents they were visibly upset. The worst thing was that I was being stopped for the third time that week, i.e., first - near Kottara Chowki, second - near Nanthoor and this was the third time.
Doesn't our Hi-Tech Traffic Police have a system to know that I have already been checked twice before? Can't my vehicle registration number be fed into their system regarding authenticity and validity of the documents? Sounds simple, isn't it? This is 2013! By the way, the Traffic Inspector (royally seated on the Pulsar Bike) was constantly spitting Pan Masala all around his Bike!

It is so sad , may their souls rest in peace. The city buses of mangalore are so reckleslly driven and rashly driven . To just increase the earning by a few Rs100 , the bus driver take all risk putting the life of passangers and people on road to high risk .Unless the Police and other responsible person initiate proper action lot of innocent life will be at risk .It is high time everybody wakes up to ensure the accident are reduced. Buses instead of lifeline of mangalore is becoming like vehicles of death.Let sense prevail with owner and employess of buses that the bsuses be driven in a proper manner with safety of people paramount.

Its high time to reduce the number of bus plying in Mangalore city area and also the new licence should not be provided for next 20 years untill the old busses are not scrapped. The vehicles are more in our city then human beings. With this narrow lane its difficult to accomodate so many vehicles along with this lunatic and drunkard bus drivers who think that this road belong to their fathers. Harsh punishment to be given and like rape law even traffic violation law need to be revised and make this judgement a historical one so that the bus driver's can value the others life more then selling more bus tickets.

If bus is reduced what about the passengers who are dependent on bus. Most of them travel by bus because they dont have sufficient money to buy 2 or 4 wheeler. Reducing the bus means forcing people to buy 2 or 4 wheeler which will increase the traffic problem. Only solution as you suggeste is to bring harsher and strict law. Instead of government spending money on Temple/Mosque/Church etc spend those money on road and cameras to monitor vehicles and criminals.
