Udupi, Jun 3: In yet another fatal accident involving a bus, a native of Kerala was killed on the spot when a city bus rammed into him near Manipal here on Monday June 3 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Thomas (62) from Kanhangad, Kerala.

Thomas and his cousin Prashanth were returning by bike to Kerala from Teerthahalli, where they had been on business. On the way, they stopped at a hotel for refreshment.

After having tea, Thomas came out and stood near his bike, while Prashanth stayed inside to pay the bill.

At that moment, a speeding bus came down the road and hit the bike as well as Thomas, killing him on the spot.

The bus, belonging to Ganesh Travels, was plying from Manipal to Udupi. The driver was taken into custody.

Do you agree, that RTO is responsible for all the accidents involving BUS.
why do they issue License to men bellow 25 yrs... most of the accidents have buses driven by drivers between age 20 to 30... do they have the experience to drive passenger bus... pilots need minimum number of flying hours to drive passenger aircrafts... locomotive drivers also have this criteria .... then why do this criteria not followed to drive heavy vehicles on roads...can the officials look into this ????

    Dear Pramod Sir (MLA),
Please put all these city and express buses under a proper speed limit depending on area. Arrange for traffic police in main streets. Put signals wherever required. Make the life of people on the streets and in the houses easy and peaceful. This action will prove your government and administration to be a peoples' government.

Interceptor of traffic police catch hold of bikes and cars only, why not speeding buses? Whether their interceptor doesn't recognise that???? Tough police get their share from buses, its upto public to raise their voice and bring change.

These city bus conductors are more dangerous, they give signal to driver "RRRight" before we get down. They want us to jump from the (moving)bus near the stop !..City bus drivers are not professionals. They are cleaners who get promotion all of a sudden when driver is absent ..

Very sad incident! May his soul RIP.
City buses claim that they need to reach next stop on time, otherwise they loose passengers. For them Money is important not life of others.'' Shame on them''&'' the authorities'' for not taking any strict action to safeguard public''

Bus owners are kings in udipi, they will give HAPTHA. to department, so how they can take control over buses as well as drivers, immediately owners will come and release the bus, insurance company will pay compensation after few years. so I advice not to release the buses till the case is over, that is the only one solution to control the accidents.

As far as RTO doesn't keep a watch on speeding buses as well as other vehicles, these things keep on repeating.

New MLA's from DK and Udupi, this for your kind attention to address this issue and ensure RTO's of both the districts act efficiently.

How many innocent should people die everyday because of reckless driving of some irresponsible drivers?? Offenders should get rigorous punishment otherwise, there no value for layman's life. May his departed soul rest in peace!
