Mangalore, Jun 9: Swarun Raj (28), CEO of city-based PVS Group, passed away in an accident at Bejai here on Sunday June 9.

The accident occured when his Suzuki B-King bike collided with a car near Bejai circle on Sunday evening.

Swarun, son of Suresh and Manu Raj, and grandson of the late K P Krishnan, had got engaged on May 24.

By profession, he was a marine engineer, having trained under the Indian navy, and had completed his studies at TS Rahaman Training Institute, Nava Sheva, Mumbai

Apart from being an entrepreneur, Swarun was a trained musician in tabla, violin, guitar, drums and piano. He was a black belt in Karate, and was a trained Bharatanatyam dancer too.

He was also part of the Samskara Bharathi, an all India organisation dedicated to promote culture through fine arts.

Kadri police have registered a case.

His body was shifted to KMC hospital. Sources said that his fiancee came to the hospital on learning of the accident, but fainted when she saw him.

It is learnt that Swarun had been already sold his Suzuki B-King bike and was to give it off on Monday. He had gone for one last ride on the bike on Sunday evening.

I agree the biker should have slow down his speed to 40 to 60 kmph as it's a inside road. But the fault is of the red car which should have stopped checked if the main road is clear and then taken the right turn. Here most of the accident are caused when the driver does not stop and check if the main road is clear and then take a turn.

He was a CEO of a company, and people at that level, have loads of maturity, but this man completely immature found it, thrilling to drive his imported sports bike very rash, knowing very well that this act of his will put at risk the lives of innocent pedestrians on street, another fact no respect for law, rash driving, no helmet, even though he is no more now, i am happy that there were no innocent casualties on road, As for this man , thank god he won't be there anymore driving his superbike, and innocent pedestrians are safe... All rash drvers, in my view should meet the same fate.

    This is my honest reaction.
I have given my dummy name to give due respect to the soul of deceased and the family members & friends.

I was traveling in a citi bus no.15 from Lalgagh to Kadri approx 6.45 pm on Sunday. while this bus moving from bejai KSRTC bus station towards bejai, one bike approx speed more than 120 kms per hour, with heavy noise, like lightening speed, just rode, taking our bus and I just prayed for the safety of the pedetraians and vehicle drivers. Within fraction of seconds, the sound of the bike stopped and I could see from the bus, his head collided with the car front tyre. This car was driven from bejai new road and taken a right turn to move towards KSRTC Bus top. I got down from the bus and I had seen the Bike hit the divider of the road.
Locals immediately jumped to help including the local auto drivers too. Appreicate the immediate help given by the locals except the car driver was delaying in calling POLICE 999 or 100. Within few minutes the police too arrived.

Thank God, nobody has hurt except brike rider got killed by himself.

Understand from the local bejai auto drivers, there are similar 3 sports bikes are riding in the same speed and the question is why the police authorities are not taken or suspended the bike drivers license. Also Mangalore roads are unfit for the sports bike and also any type of sports vehicles.

Heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved members of the family. May his soul rest in peace.

Earlier, when the roads were in such a bad condition (pote holes every second step) such accidents use to take place.

But, presently the concret roads and the modern byces driving youngesters crazy ! Accidents have increased many folds.

High speed will not take some one home safely but controled speed and cautiousness will land some one home safe.

May the dparted soul rest in peace and Almighty God give strength to the bereaved fly to bear the loss of their beloved son.

I have seen in mangalore only the vehicles from the side roads come on to the main road at great speed and block at least 25% of the main road preventing the mainroad traffic to slow down and make way for them.No policeman ever catches them and fine them. Many accidents have taken place due to this and no action against such errant drivers. May his soul RIP

Shocking news death of a youngster in a tragic accident ! Even though his bike is sold his conscious prompted him to go for a last ride which became the last day of his life!!. Very sad to here. One has to be extra careful specially at junctions and circles because the four wheelers & Buses/commercial vehicles are just zooming ignoring road rules & without cutting down the speed at the junctions & circles. May his soul rest in peace.

Giving bikers a bad name ain't just enough. Has anyone ever thought of the absolutely inadequate infrastructure that we ride upon... Cement roads are by all means a death trap.
Agreed that Swarun may have been overspeeding, which I do not endorse, specially in the city. RIP brother...
Wonder when people will stop looking at bikers with a stare, as nothing but rash riders. As bikers we do travel the length and breadth of the country and its the wannabe city romeos who give us a bad name.... No helmet, a cheap windcheater and some colorful chappals is what these wannabes wear.
When will the babus ever enforce civic laws that do not allow riding without bare minimum protection at least and full protection on highways...
Fellow biker brothers, lets take a minutes silence to reflect where we, if we go wrong.
    R.I.P brother.....

My condolences to the family of the deceased. As a rider I know how far I see before I hit that throttle, if he had been riding sports bikes he'd have done the same. I have experienced on multiple occasions cars and bikes approaching that junction at full speed unaware of other approaching traffic, I'm sure this incident was similar. Most people do not adhere to traffic rules and lane discipline, this is the cause of the accidents, not necessarily speeding.
