Bangalore: Fr K J Thomas murder - Suspect priest to undergo narco test

Bangalore, Jun 11 (Ucanews): A Catholic priest continues to be a suspect in the case of a seminary rector killed in a Bangalore seminary two months ago. He will undergo narco-analysis tests soon, an investigation officer said.

The police have already conducted brain mapping on Father Patrick Xavier, procurator of St Peter's Pontifical seminary, who first found the body of Rector Father K. J. Thomas on April 1. Brain mapping tests have also been conducted on two workers at the seminary.

"We are verifying all angles" said officer V.S. D'Souza, adding that they could not "rule out any of them" as they search for the motive for the murder of the 62-year old priest. He also added that Father Xavier's "behavior appeared to be suspicious."

Narco-analysis entails administering chemicals to render the subject semi-conscious and make it difficult for them to lie.

The rector's body was found lying in a pool of blood in a corridor near his room. Preliminary investigations indicate that he was attacked after answering a knock on his door.

Officer D’Souza dismissed allegation that police have made no headway two moths after the crime and said "we are moving in the right direction, but I cannot give you details."

The seminary began its new academic year on June 3 with vice rector Father Savarimuthu Stanislas appointed as acting rector. Fr Stanislas denied suggestions that the seminary and Church people are trying to protect those responsible for the killing.

"We also want to know the truth. We, the students and staff want to know why such a simple man was killed and who did it," he told ucanews.com.

He said the seminary is going through "a traumatic experience" with its rector killed and its procurator suspected. "But we are fully cooperating" and are determined to do everything to help police investigation, he said.

Father A. Rayappan, president of St. Peter's institute, which oversees the academic activities, said it is too early to say how the students have taken the incidents.

"They are back after summer holidays only a week ago. But certainly there is less joy," he said.

I agree. The investigating officer does not order a Narco without solid reason. But there are other possibilities like the priest who is asked to undergo the test, may know who actually did it. So no conclusions must be arrived at, without trusting those are investigating the case.

It would be very unfortunate if a Catholic priest would be involved in the murder of another priest. I just hope and pray it's not true. However, if it is the truth, it should be out in the open. The best part of the case is that the Home Minister seems a Christian man and the investigating officer is also a Catholic. I am sure considering the sensitivities of the community involved and the fact that 2 Christians are in charge, certainly the Christian community can't complain on the bias of the case. All the best to the officer-in-charge.

If a person makes a decision to detach himself from everything of the world to love and serve the lord

When you have no answer to all your questions best solution is to say 'Terrorist attack' or 'Pakistan' attack. Very simple.
I mean, that's what Mauna Mohana would have said it.
Sorry, its just a warming joke while all of you are mourning.
    Good morning to all.

A murder and then a suspect, though yet to be proven, in a seminary where our priests are trained is quite terrible and unthinkable. Hope the truth will come out soon and we know what exactly happened. The diocese administrators, especially the bishops have a lot of thinking to do before appointing rectors and ministers to a seminary!

Dear V.S.D'Souza, you are well known as doing a good job and sincere and straight forward officer. Since it is you who are handling the case, I am sure, truth will come out shortly. May God bless you. Such death should lnot have come to Fr.K.J.Thomas who was a nice and sincere priest. I had known him personally. May God help & bless you in your effort to book the culprit.

Dont get agitated. When police decide to subject a person for narco test it means 'some thing' because they can not employ third degree treatment of religious guru due the sentimentals to bring out the truth.Police people are not fools to decide narco test on a church priest. My intestion was only how a church Priest can develop enimity against his counter part.General Church priest is looked up on as a person of wisdom, knowledge, compassion, guide and friend not only to Christians but to entire soceity with who he is aquitainted.Dont read too much in that.
