Bangalore: SP aims at strengthening base in state, says Akhilesh Yadav

Bangalore, Jun 14 (DHNS):
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said the Samajwadi Party (SP) is looking at strengthening its base in Karnataka.

“We admit that we have arrived a bit late in Karnataka. But, like any other political party, we require time to build our cadre and base. We intend to increase our presence in the State,” said Yadav who is on a two-day visit to the State.

He said that the SP aims to consolidate its voter base, that of farmers and below poverty line (BPL) citizens, and increase its vote share in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Yadav, who arrived here Thursday afternoon, had a small informal meeting with his partymen who waited in queue to welcome their charismatic leader.

Tourism possibilities

The Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FKCCI) put forth a proposal to increase the potential of tourism in Karnataka by having better relations with Uttar Pradesh.

It is learnt that Yadav was keen on having an exclusive dialogue with FKCCI to expand the relations between the two states.

In the evening, Yadav called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to congratulate him on taking over the reins of the State. It is said that the two chief ministers had a brief chat on their Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi’s elevation as the BJP election campaign committee chairman and its possible repercussions, apart from other issues.

The SP leader will address a rally in Channaptna on Friday and later take a nostalgic trip to Mysore, where he did his engineering course.

‘Swalpa, swalpa’

Rusty in his Kannada, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday made a valiant attempt at speaking the language.

Asked whether he was able to recall the language he used to understand during his college days in Mysore, 40-year-old Yadav replied, “swalpa, swalpa.”

He asked reporters to question him in Kannada, providing brief respite from the serious questions posed to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

“Oota aytha. Banni... Oye galate maad beda” said the jovial Uttar Pradesh chief minister, trying to recollect some words which he could speak in Kannada.

    @Gopala, UK,
inspite of spending so much time in Karnataka, Mysore in Particular, Akhilesh has failed to bring any tangible change in his own state UP, which is still carrying the age old legacy of corruption, goondagiri, caste based politics and so on.
You rightly said, we don't want negative influences in our state politics anymore until and unless he reforms his own state first.

We had enough of BJP already, who has been shown its right place by the people of K'taka.

    Jai Hind!

Traditionally Karnataka had bi- party system and voters of Karnataka hesitant to support regional parties.Of late, our state also witnessing a kind of regional outfits like BSR/JDS/SP/KHENIs KMP...This trend gaining momentum under the circumstances as National Party BJP reduced in Karnataka behind regional party to JDS!

Now a days single party govt in state or Center are not a reality. Especially Central Govt has no chance being Single Party Govt!SP's Mulayam likely to play major role in Center in the forthcoming LS election,I guess SP will enhance it's base beyond UP.Yogish.....an Aya Ram gaya Ram corrupt politician perhaps changed all parties in Karnataka may not remain in SP for long time...

U.P. & Bihar, where S.P. belong to, they could not improve life
    of the people!
Installing new statues every day, and changing names of the roads are their achievements than building new roads, dams or railway lines and then fight over desecration of Statues!
Leave aside their work any see who is doing what is common business to so many there!
Now they want to make BASE in Karnataka!
What is the benefit to people, if there are many more parties?
More number of looser anyway are trouble to the society and they want to add some more to it!

SP should not think of having a base in Karnataka. We don't want to see a UP in Karnataka run by political parties like BSP and SP. Karnataka people don't want a state of gun yielding people. It is quite peaceful and let it be that way.
