Kasargod, Jun 21: Seaplanes will be providing boost to tourism sector in the district from August this year onwards. Introduction of seaplanes will be a milestone in the tourism sector here. Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Ltd (KTIL), which has identified a spot at Nileshwar Kotappura for the purpose, will be spending about Rs 12 crore towards this facility. Such a facility is already in place at Alappuzha in the state.

As sea coast like in Kerala also exists in Karnataka, KTIL proposes to extend this facility to Mangalore in course of time. The seaplane facility has already become popular with the tourists. Government-owned KTIL has conducted preliminary surveys at Koteppura near Nileshwar, and Talangere in the district.

KTIL sources said that the district will get its first seaplane during the month of August, and that the facility will be extended to Mangalore shortly.

Kotappura already has a small boat jetty, and KTIL proposes to develop this into as a parking area for seaplanes. If both Kerala and Karnataka governments give their nod, seaplanes will be extended to Mangalore.

Thiruvananthapuram airport, Ashtamudi-Punnamada, Vembanad, Munnar, Kochi airport and backwater of Kochi have been identified as potential seaplane circuits. Seaplanes will operate from Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram airport, in addition to New Mangalore port. KTIL has plans to begin seaplane operations from 20 different centres.

Kairali Aviation having its headquarter in Dubai, Maritime Energy Heli Air Service in Mumbai, and Kerala Seaplane Services, will be operating these flights. In the early stages, six-seater seaplanes will become operative. These floating aircrafts, which were earlier seen only in movies, will be providing exhilarating experiences to the local tourists shortly. Many feel that seaplanes will add a new chapter in the history of coastal tourism in the country.

Our Karnataka Politicians r incapable of Solving our simple Garbage problems & to fill the potholes on our roads,so what tourism projects we can expect from them. For tourism our politicians will go to foreign countries. One of the comment Jeevan gave last time & I liked was to thank the Britishers for giving us good bridges.Yes they gave us good bridges, fly overs, best railway net work to all over India. If they were here today we would have get best tourist attraction places in Karnataka. Our politicians of all the parties r only bothered to fill their pockets after they get elected. They give big speeches saying that they will provide 4 lane road highways all over Karnataka, but at the end we will get nothing from them.Ever since we got independence they have been telling that they will alleviate poverty,we will make our India slum free, but unfortunately we did not achieve any thing in this regard.

remy d'souza and everyone else that has the misconception that seaplanes are safer than land planes be aware
1.Seaplnes carry only half the load of landplanes
2.Seaplanes are not as safe as landplanes
3.Landing distance depends on the current and the rate of flow of water
4.Unless the seaplane has amphibious floats it cannot touch down on land

Sea planes are an excellent alternative for conventional planes. Less prone to accidents, they dont need huge runways and can be landed on any small body of water. Kulur River is an good starting point for entrepreneurs keen on investing in tourism.

Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation has to think about this to implement the same in Coastal Karnataka which contains largest coastal line. If implemented it should be reachable to the common people too because we are living together in this world.

Kerala state always leads the way in tourism sector. It would'nt be a problem if Karnatake state would be the followers. No they are the sleepers. But the funds kept for tourism purposes are swallowed mby politicians and govt.officials. 5 years BJP rule. Now lets see what the new party does. In Brasil and Turkey people are revolting but in Karnataka people are sleeping and interested only in Religion. Jai Karnataka. Jai sleepers.
