Mangalore: HRD Centre - A boon to job seekers in district

Mangalore, Jun 22: The district Human Resource Development (HRD) Centre is the second largest in the state after Bangalore, thanks to the efforts put in by the centre to provide employment. The Karnataka Employment Exchange was renamed as Human Resource Development Centre in 2009 and has shown several youth the path to employment.

As per details obtained from April 1, 2012, to March 31, 2013, around 6,304 people had registered with the HRD Centre, of which 160 people were trained under MES model, Government of India. The total employer registrations were 103 as per the Compulsory Notification Act. A total of 1,651 people were selected during this period.

Speaking to Daijiworld, HRD centre manager Rithesh Amin said that a greater number of people register their names in the month of March, and that around 450 to 470 people register every month. When asked about the response from the people, he said job aspirants who come to register have been increasing over the years and stated that the centre has achieved growth through its service.

Till date, as many as 30,878 people have registered their names with the district HRD Centre of which 6,535 people have been selected for employment.


Job Fair

The district HRD Centre has organized 8 job fairs in 2013 throughout the taluk wherein 140 companies had participated. The total number of candidates selected was 1,283.

Around 7,223 candidates registered themselves in the job fair. The participation number as per their qualifications was 39 people below SSLC, 179 people who completed SSLC, PUC 618, ITI 491, diploma 1,039, graduation 3,024, post graduation 1,352, and 481 technical graduates.

When asked about the upcoming projects in the centre, Amin said that in the next 3 to 4 months, the Government of India, along with the Government of Karnataka will launch new projects in the district. “This project has already been launched in other states and will be implemented even here,” he said without revealing much.

Pavitra, a BCom graduate, who recently got a job as a back office assistant in the city, said, “The efficiency of the HRD Centre must be lauded for the fact that I received information to attend two interviews within the first day of application.” This has proved to be beneficial as she is currently employed at one of these places.

Avinash, BHRD student working in a private bank as a sales officer, says that the centre helps each candidate with an individual approach.
