Bigger golden chariot to come up in Kateel Temple, minister Jain swears to abandon Niddodi project

Mangalore, Aug 25: 'Swarna Muhurtha' for the construction of one of the biggest golden chariots – to be built at the cost of Rs. 5 crores – took place here at Kateel Shree Durgaparameshwari temple on Sunday, August 25.

The golden chariot which is said to be of 14 feet high will be made of 12 kg gold, 200 kgs of silver. State Environment and Ecology minister B Ramanath Rai flagged off its construction work.

Wenlock hospital data to be computerized: UT Khadar

Appreciating Kateel temple for introducing computerized works in temples, State Health Minister UT Khadar said that similarly, we will take initiative to computerize the document related works even in Wenlock hospital, Mangalore as well.

After the continuous demands raised by the residents for a good government hospital in Kateel, Health Minister said, “We recognize the your participation to construct a full-fledged government hospital in the vicinity of Kateel temple. This is a need of the residents. Although there are no new projects to build hospitals until 2014, we will give first priority to construct a hospital in Kateel in the next project”, said State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khadar here on Sunday.

Urban Development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the newly renovated main premises of the temple. In his address, he said that if the residents and the MLA agree to include Kateel region under ‘Greater Mangalore’ project, this city will be eligible to receive additional funds from the government.

Minister Jain swears to abandon Niddodi project

In his presidential address, Youth Services and Fisheries Minister K Abhaychandra Jain took a pledge saying that the decision to implement Ultra mega Niddodi power project will be abandoned.  “We, along with other ministers oppose the proposal of this particular power project”, he said swearing on Kateel Temple.

Former Chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda, MLA Mohuiddin Bawa, Monappa Bhandary, Dayanand Reddy Bangalore were among others present at the programme.

Besides, Mumbai Bunts association former president Aikala Harish Shetty, Nanda Kumar, Mumbai businessman Sathish Shetty, Kateel Sanjeev Rao, Trust president Dr Suresh Rao, Taluk panchayat member Baby Sundar Kotian, Mennabettu gram panchayath president Janardhan Kilenjoor, Vasudev Asranna, Subrayamannya Avadhani, Venkatraman Asranna, Harinarayan Asranna, also witnessed the event.

Ajith Kumar Hegde, administrative officer welcomed the gathering. Prof. Balakrishna Shetty, principal compered the programme and Ananta Padmanabha Asranna proposed a vote of thanks.

    Providing better infrastructure and lodging facilities for the convenience of the devotees and Tourists,
    improving the quality of education and facilities at Kateel educational Institutes ,free hostel for the underprivileged students,
    a full-fledged hospital in kateel, etc would please Shree Durgaparameshwari Devi more than offering a Golden Chariot.
