Mangalore: Bearys Cultural Forum awards scholarships worth Rs 25 lac to 650 students

Mangalore, Aug 26: In a laudable gesture, UAE-based Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) on Sunday August 25 awarded scholarships worth Rs 25 lac to 650 students at a ceremony held at Yenepoya University auditorium at Derelakkate here.

The programme started with the recitation of the Quran. M E Moolur, chairman, scholarship committee, introduced the Bearys Cultural Forum and the Educational Scholarship Meet 2013.

Dr B K Yusuf, president of BCF, UAE, in his address said that students should always focus on strategically thinking and that decisions about career should be taken at an early stage of life.

Hassan Darvish, chaiman of Darvish Group, conveyed his best wishes to the students and assured to provide scholarships for medical students. Darvish was awarded with the Medal of Honor and Appreciation 2013 for his immense contribution to society.

Syed Mohammed Beary, chairman, Bearys Group, Bangalore said, “Students should choose their careers as per their interests. Courses focusing on entrepreneurship, civil services and defense services should be given more priority.”

B M Farookh, president, Bearys Welfare Association, Bangalore noted, “The associations must give scholarships in a unified manner.”

B A Moideen, the former education minister stated, "NRI support to all the institutes is highly appreciated.”

Dr P Chandramohan, honorary vice-chancellor, Yenepoya Univesity emphasized the importance of Islamic education and said, “Islamic education must be inducted in the field of science and technology too."

MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava emphasized on opening of a school for poor students.

Mumtaz Ali welcomed the gathering while Qazi Sheikhuna Al Haj P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal conducted prayes for the scholarship meet. M B Akbar proposed the vote of thanks.

Earlier in the day, a career guidance seminar was held, presided over by Dr Kaup Mohammed, general secretary of BCF.

Dr Kaup Mohammed spoke on personality development strategies and the commitment to be made by each student towards his or her studies and career. He elaborated on engineering, business and health care programmes. Dr Kaup Mohammeed also conducted a leadership exercise. 

The career guidance seminar was held for 2 hours followed by a question-answer session.

The students of Al Badriya Composite College at Krishnapur recited Qirat and sang patriotic and devotional songs.
