Mangalore, Aug 28: Hundreds of music lovers were taken on a journey of evergreen melodies, at the ‘Geet Gaata Chal’ event held at town hall on Tuesday August 27.

Multi-lingual singer Anita D’Souza, Srikanth Kamath, Mohammed Haneef, and Ranjan Das gave a dazzling performance and captivated the audience with songs of past generation.

Inaugurating the programme by lighting the lamp, chairman of expert group of institutions Narendra Nayak said "We have seen various classical artists who practice every day and deliver shows. Based on lively atmosphere, they sing well, but here are the artistes who can handle any crowd," he said commenting on the singers of the show.

Lauding artistes for captivating the audience hearts through various shows over the years, Nayak said in this show the singers themselves are the organizers and audiences should be privileged to attend the same.

Rohan Monteiro, MD of Rohan Corporation, chief guest said that the yesteryear melodies are soulful, create a vibrancy and gives mental peace. He also asked people to support these artistes and lauded organizers for hosting a beautiful programme.

Chief guests Prakash Sheregar, proprietor of Avinash Mosaic Industry and businessman Jagadish Karia also spoke on the occasion and wished good luck.

After the success of 'Rafi-Kishore Nite' in 2010, and 'Lata Ki Suneheri Yaadein' in 2011, ‘Yaadon Ki Baarat’ in 2012, the same artistes - a melodious combination of Anita, Srikanth Kamath, Mohammed Haneef and Ranjan Das presented yet another musical evening ‘Geet Gaata Chal’.

Nostalgic memories poured out from these artistes. Melodies like ‘Allah tero Naam’, ‘Raat Akeli Hai’, ‘Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam’, ‘Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan’, ‘Inhi Logon Ne’, ‘Aaja re aa jara aa’, ‘Dosti Pyar Ka Pehla Kadam’, ‘Tera Mujhse Hai Pehla Ka Naata Koi’, ‘Jilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga’, ‘Jane Kyon Log Mohabbat Kiya Karate Hain’, ‘Aaja tujko pukare’ and others spellbound the jam-packed audience.

YES MR. ROBIN. YOU R 100% RIGHT. THE SONGS OF TODAY ARE VERY HOPELESS. INSTEAD OF HEARING SUCH SONGS IT IS BETTER TO CLOSE OUR EARS. OTHERWISE WE WILL BECOME MAD. THE SINGER LIKE MOHD.RAFI AND LATA WILL NOT BORN AGAIN. THEY ARE THE TREASURES OF INDIA. I SALUTE THEM. I ALSO SALUTE MUSICIANS LIKE SHANKER JAIKISHAN, LAXMIKANT PYARELAL, OP NAYYAR, HEMANT KUMAR, SALIL CHOUDHARY ETC.

Congratulations to all singers, musicians and organizers.I could not make it this time. Still fortunate to attend previous shows of these lovely artists. What a great voice.Specially Anitha and Haneef what a wonderful gift of golden voices. Both of you reached the level of Rafi and Latha.Having seen Anitha performing in various languages and different styles I consider her as one among the top 3 playback singer in India.Being a great fan of yours I wish you will reach greater heights in singing. As noted by Robin it is sad to note our younger generation fascinated towards junk music.Yesteryear melodies had emotions, appropriate lyrics and soul touching music. Those days Hi tech gadgets were not there still those hits remain evergreen.I feel creating a great music require sixth sense. It comes out from the rythm of soul.

    Great musical evening.

The rendering by Anitha and Mohd. Haneef was the highlights and audiences were chanting 'once more', but due to the constrain of time, repeat requests were not honoured.

Solo songs 'Inhi Logon Ne’, ‘Aaja re aa jara aa’ by Anitha and‘Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam’,Aaja tujko pukare’ by Mohd. Haneef and the super hit duet Jilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga’ from film "Jeevan Mrithyu" by both singers were catchy and too melodious.

The show compered by Prem Kumar has done justice to his role.

Overall, the show was great success and look forward seeing similar events ahead.

Thanks to the organizers and associates.

They are truly melodious and have the capacity of killing pains and even some diseases. But see the faces of very few youth present over there. They are not cheerful to these melodies. They expect Orchestra (HARSH-EXTRA).

Once PBS told - The Letter M of MUSIC stands for MELODY. Now it has gone. What remained is USIC alias U-SICK after listening so called modern NOISE.

Let the old melodious sweet songs live for ever and ever... That is only my prayer.
