Mangalore, Aug 30: The 'Mosaru Kudike', ceremony that marks Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, was held in the city with great vigour and excitement on the night of Thursday August 29.

Youth from various clubs came together and joined in the act of breaking pots by forming pyramids.

As every year, this time too it made a breathtaking sight for all those who had gathered at Attavar, Padil, Thokkottu and Kadri to watch the spectacle. A large crowd witnessed the ‘Mosaru Kudike”, cheering the participants throughout.

Earlier, pots were filled with milk or curds but these days to add more fun to the celebration; pots are filled with coloured water, flowers and coins. Human pyramids are formed in order to break the pots as they are tied high up in the air.

To add splendour to the occasion, a number of decorated trucks depicting Lord Krishna’s life were taken on procession, accompanied by the traditional tiger dance and Nasik bands.

Mosaru Kudike is a festival similar to the Dahi Handi festival celebrated in parts of Maharashtra. It symbolizes Krishna’s love for curds.

Attavara highlights: Shivallele, Shwetha Kumara Shapa Vimochane, Chende by ladies, Nasik band and tiger dance
