The launch of the personality development programme at St Agnes English Primary School was held on August 29. This was the fourth and last school to be covered  during the academic year 2013-2014.  Hemacharya, editor in chief of Daijiworld Weekly was the chief guest.

In his address to the 167 students from the three sections of Class 7, who are the participants of the programme, Hemacharya stressed the importance of five quality lessons of life, "The ability to Smile, positive attitude, Courage to Ask Questions, Respect for Time and Listening to your conscience."

He congratulated CASK on embarking on this valuable programme for the benefit of school students.

In his address, Dr Derek Lobo, president of CASK pointed out that the goal of education is to groom the students for success and happiness in life and to mould them into balanced, mature, socially conscious, public-good oriented and value-based  citizens. Given these lofty goals, he lamented the undue focus and pre-occupatiion the schools on examinations and results. He said that qualifications have a limited value and take you up to the point of a job interview.

Thereafter, success depends on a variety of Personality Skills like public speaking, public relations, team building, problem-solving, confidence, amicable personality and upright character. The CASK sponsored programme is aimed at developing and strengthening the personality skills.

Capt J P Menezes, secretary-CASK introduced the chief guest and welcomed the guests which included Sr Edna, Education Secretary of the Apostolic Carmel Order, Sr Lydia Fernandes, superior-St Agnes Convent, Sr Hilda-headmistress of St Agnes  School, Dr Anand Pereira and Ian Lobo, governing council members of CASK.

As an ancient member of CASK I am indeed happy to perceive that this great association is making rapid strides in every direction. I am glad that during the centenary year the right set of people have come into the picture on the utive commitee of Cask. Dr. Derek Lobo the present President of Cask does not need introduction. His has been a sccess story. A person of great academic qualifications as a doctor he had the priviledge of getting ed by The United Nations as a specialist in Skin Ailments particularly lepresy. In his capacity as a member of this body he travelled all over the world.

What is good to see is that he has retunred to his Home Town after retirement and in Mangalore he has built a great name for himself as a born leader. Indeed AN APPLE TREE CANNOT PRODUCE A MANGO - (AS THE SAYING GOES). and here is atypical case of LIKE FATHER LIKE SON. I had the pleasure knowing Derek's Father Mr. S.L. Lobo who never minced words and in his own right he too was leader and born politician. Last month Stany Lobo's Centenary was kept up on a grand scale by Derek.

To back and support Derek we have none other than Captain John Prasad Menezes who despite the mulitiplicity of schedules is finding time to work and promote CASK to take it to great heights.
It is good to see that CASK has taken on hand various projects and with the help of Patsy and other members of The utive committe of this body it is evident that it will be a success story. I am glad to see Stepehn Hemacharya on the scene. This fine man means business and it is good to see him closely assocaited with CASK now.
I join hundreds of people in saying kudos to the present management and wish the centenary projects every success.
