Mangalore, Aug 31: Mohammed Haneef (28), who had recently demanded CBI probe into the sensational Panjimogeru double murder case and had expressed suspicion of his brother-in-law's involvement, was on Friday August 30 allegedly attacked by a group.

Haneef

Haneef is the brother of Razia, who was murdered along with her young daughter Zuha Fathima in 2011. It is alleged that Haneef was attacked for demanding CBI probe into the case.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon when Haneef was returning from mosque after Namaz. Haneef who was injured in the attack has been admitted to Wenlock hospital.

It is learnt that before attacking, the group questioned Haneef as to why he demanded CBI investigation.

It may be recalled that Razia (34), wife of Hameed and their daughter Zuha Fathima (8) were murdered at their residence on June 28, 2011. Even though two years have passed and despite the CID probe, the accused have not yet been caught. Hence, Haneef approached the media recently and demanded CBI investigation into the case. Haneef had also alleged that Razia's husband Hameed had been trying to frame him and also preventing him from taking part in protests in connection to the murder.

It is alleged that Hameed, his brother Mayyadi, Abdul Sattar, Abdul Rahiman and others attacked Haneef.

A case has been registered in Kavoor police station.
