Mumbai: Vasai Diocese celebrates Monthi Feast

Mumbai, Sept 18: Vasai Diocese of Maharashtra celebrated Monthi Feast at Vasai west Barampur  St Gonsalves Gracsia church on September 8.

Fr Ivanwas main the celebrant, Fr Caesar Dabre, Fr Joe (Carmelite), Fr Robert D’Souza, Fr Jacob Koli, Fr Vishwas Dumada, Fr Melory, Fr Peter, Fr Kimsley, Fr Louis Fernandes, Fr Louis D’Britto,  Fr Prashant were co-celebrant at the Altar. Fr Nazareth Gabru, Fr Rajesh Lopes, Fr Kingsley were the host parish committee.

The programme was conducted by organising committee members Fr Prashant,  Patrick Menezes, George Menezes, Ened D’Souza, John Rodriques, Robert Menezes.

The procession began from Manikpur Cross to the church with children showering flowers to Mother Marry.  The blessing of Paddy in the church was followed by the Eucharist in Konkani.

A cultural programme was conducted by the Parish Members and children. The traditional food was served to all on the occasion.

    VASAI DIOCESE had to rely on non-konkani ashram children to make up their strength for Monti Fest celebration. Most of the co-celebrant priests were also non-konkani though there are enough Konkani priests in Vasai. May be they had the fear that Mangaloreans will attend the Monti Fest celebrated under the leadership of a Konkani organisation. But one appreciable aspect in their show of strength exerciese is that "Monti Fest" is now also introduced to non-konkani people. Hats off to you!
