To all the people, who call him an idiot. As per the current rules, if you are caught with Gold valued less than Rs. 1 crore, you can get away easily with your gold by paying the due taxes and providing the source of the money used in buying the gold. This is pretty easy and this is what this guy is also going to do. I am not sure why this is a big news. People take chances by considering these facts beforehand. If he is able to pass through the customs without getting caught, he is going to save the tax which is certainly going to the pockets of the politicians.

Now point of suspect that there is chance of 1 or 2 only get caught out of 100 such incidents, otherwise they wouldn't have done these repeated attempts

Every time it looks like joke that Customs have caught this guy and that guy and drama goes on?
If proper metal detector is placed in every Air Port it will immediately alert even if it is a gun etc., Let the government openly say if there is a attempt on smuggling certain goods then custom charges should be double. Just pay the duty and get out. Create awareness on the tax ceiling over precious metals. many a times passengers are ignorant of law.

We educated Dajiworld readers spend our time by criticizing Kasaragodian's (KL 14). They busy in minting money. They realized the fact with current political condition common man cant come up unless he/she takes risk. Legally politician looting public funds but they loot government.

Hats off to the customs officials who with their integrity and dedication have ensured that the Government is not cheated of its rightful earnings in the form of taxes and duty.
At least now let people realize that bringing goods from abroad and evading duty amounts to smuggling which is a crime.Let them buy their gold in India and enrich our own country

Dinesh, why u think he is notorious dude, he is earning in Dubai and getting things, may be for his sisters or mother. Even if u too earn in Dubai u too will take gold to India. what is crime in it. if customs catches you then pay duty or bribe them its over simple. Never ever say he is notorious dude he didnot do any crime. as per current Indian economic growth if we get gold currency from other countries then it favours India.

From today onwards I do not see any thing wrong inthese type of acts by Indians residng abroad who visit their native place. After all it is their hard earned money in which they are investing.Let govt leavy reasonable tax on the incoming gold. After all people have cdomestic commitments to be accumplished.

My change of out look is due to the governments support for criminals sitting inside our Parliament and those who propose to contest general election in 2014.When a orrdinance can be enacted to protes these criminal why not our own people to fulfil their megre desires/family commitments?
