Mangalore, Sep 27: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday September 27 organized a massive protest rally against the mysterious death of Akshata (18), a second year BCom student from a college at Car Street. She was reported missing since last Saturday and her body was found at the riverside in Bolar on Tuesday September 24.

Hundreds of students from various colleges joined the protest rally which was held from Jyothi circle to DC office here.

Addressing the protest, ABVP state organizing secretary Mahipal said “Our country is witnessing rampant increase in sexual crimes against women. Although the women are in various prominent positions such as the ruling party’s chairperson, opposition party leaders, past president, chief ministers etc, the situation remains unchanged."

"The present day government has failed to provide security to women. Political parties do not have a serious approach towards such gruesome crimes, instead they are busy in polarizing the society in the name of caste, creed, sect and religion.  The government should set up fast track courts as soon as possible. Once the guilt of the crime is proven the culprits should be hanged publicly, or else the government will have to face the wrath of the public and students," he said.

Ashwini from a college in Car Street said, “Culprits are getting out of jail easily with just a bail; instead of sending them to the police, let the students manage these culprits with a better punishment."

Niveditha of SDM College said, "The heinous crimes against women are increasing by the day, government and police officials have failed to tackle and curtail the crimes against women."

Chandini of Besant Women's College said, “In primary school, we were learn ‘we are Indians and all Indians are our brothers and sisters'. The culprits who commit rapes are not illiterate but they are of the educated class. They know how to commit a crime as well as to escape from it.”

Shamprasad, a student from University College said “Sowjanya who was brutally killed (in Beltangady last year) has still not been done justice. Today, a similar incident has happened with Akshata. There is no end to this type of injustice. Police have to immediately probe  this matter."

Shrivatsa of Car Street college, Sapna of Canara College, Purushotham Salian also spoke on this occasion.

    Politics... Just Politics...
ABVP is not interested at bringing justice. Marching is just to fake the people with false assurance of justice. They will not go further in this case as they did in Saujanya case(leaders may be getting paid).
If they cannot bring justice then why they march in public road? They can bring justice for rich people only..

Student protest should always be apolitical. No politics inside college premises.

Views expressed below are general in nature, not aimed at any person.

We see large number of misguided youths. Some youths unable to handle urges due to adolescent changes. These teenagers must learn to control Kundalini energy. Why these college going boys n girls experiment with Kundalini Shakthi ? Awakening of kundalini shakthi is dangerous if one doesnt practice how to channelize this precious energy. Evil forces misuse this Kundalini Chakra in the form of appeasing, buttering etc. and the result would be murders, suicides among teenaged youths. This Girl looks so cute and bright, she lost her own future falling prey to kundalini power. Technical but true. Youth needs proper guidance n support. PArents, Counselors have a huge role to play in moulding our youth. If we are able to protect our youth from wrongdoing then these 70percent youth will transform India to greater nation in the world.

Akshatha (18), whose death mystery still continues, is a citizen of India just like you and me, with her own space for privacy and her own choice for interaction among her friends, people n family. Such privacy cannot be dumped by any goverment at power. We do not want to live in Emergency, or any communist rule or under any dictatorship governance where fundamental freedom to live has been snatched away. Given that we are bestowed with fundamental rights n freedom, it is how we make use of it will determine the events. If we misuse our freedom or become irresponsible or become gullible targets for certain wicked tricks, then no one can help including the government/police/parents/teachers. Government cannot keep secret windows into our day-today-life unless it is for national security. Therefore government cannot keep security to individuals. We as citizens have the duty to create atmosphere of love, peace, trust, etc.

In Akshatha's case, nothing is known yet. Did she commit suicide? Whether she was blackmailed and murdered ? Whether she ended up in some tragedy ? Public protest will help expedite a transparent investigation by police.

But why RSS/BJP student wing ABVP is trying to politicize Aksatha's death ? Why should saffron outfit ABVP lead students protest ? Students are angry. Why ABVP has to cash on to their anger ? Protest had students from all backgrounds, i can see some burkha clad ladies and some minority community students who doesnt even aware of what ABVPs hidden agendas are and by whose orders it functions. Clearly all students are agitated. Student-union is the only representative that students have to put forth their anger out but not ABVP. Why cant murderer of Akshatha come from ABVP and present in this protest ( just like manipal medical student rapists came from Bajarang Dal)?

where were Ashwini, chandini, Nivedita etc. and ABVP when young girls/students were brutally attacked n molested by BD/SRS/HJV during BJP rule?

Gubbuji, Just out of curiosity, after reading your comment,
1.What is the hidden agenda of ABVP? Are they planning for any Bombing kind of things or planning to bring an ordinance to save politicians with criminal background?
2.Ask our ruling party members of Manipal, why did they remove “some” of their banners in Parkala after Manipal rape incident?
3.Who did strip a young-lady in front of police in Bangalore 2 months ago?

What is the use of blaming political parties and police when girls want to have relationship with boys.As I mentioned yesterday, Akshata knew a boy in what way I do not know, may be they were close and she refused his advances as a result this unfortunate thing must have taken place. GIRLS BE CAREFUL.

Dear students dont waste your precious time. study well and avoid unnecessary contacts with boys. and if some one calls tell the truth at home and go and alwa hatys be obedient to the parents. here I read she went from home for a special class. parents should find out from college wheather there was a special class on that evening.one hand no one can clap, For the pleasure of few minuites our young sisters losing their life. Be careful while moving, chatting with your boyfriends. better stay away from all these activities while you study. do all this after your studies. This is my advice.Because i had 2 sisters they were always coming in time and doing their studies. they are well settled.

Tell us also. You will definitely win crowd at your side, not for agitating and wasting your precious time. How come the parents of these ABVP students have nothing to say? Have they left them at the mercy of ABVP. Something to think about.

I join my other daijiworld readers in offering deep-felt condolences to the young girl's family. May her soul rest in Peace!

In fact all are quite shocked and worried about the way the young girl went missing and later found dead. But this is not the method to get justice for the departed soul. Rightly, few representatives of different schools, colleges and other unions can give memorandums to the DC and the police commissioner but this method of organising school/college going students to take precession in which they will miss their classes and the common publics are put to great hardship. These right wing youth wants to safronise anything and everything. This will reflect their motive and hit back on them because other than public nuisance it will not serve any purpose. We all are aware how Kerala's economy was destroyed due to such frequent bunds. We don’t want that to happen in this region and destroy the development of this region.
    Jai Hind!

As long as Congress led secular govt. rules the nation, there will no end to rapes, deaths, terrorist attacks, murders, robbery, corruption, etc,..etc,... Instead of agitating just start to put a full stop to Congress & other sick minded secular parties. Elect one & only BJP with full majority both at State & National level. Urgent need of the nation is to elect BJP with full majority at the center.

Feel Pity on some educated who think any party rule would promote or prevent these crimes, for their ignorance.
In every state ruled by different parties(including BJP), there were, are & will be rapes & murders.
If people cannot protect themselves & misuse the Freedom given by parents, then nobody can help them. No Rambo is capable of reading anybodies mind & reach there in nick of time to save them as in cartoons like super heroes.
Be sensible & give police time to catch the culprit & then voice your concerns any which party you favor.
