Mangalore: Lifeguards rescue three sisters from drowning

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Oct 15: News columns of various media are time and again flooded with incidents of drowning, but hardly is there any space for news where alert, dynamic lifeguards save lives risking their own. In Goa it is common sight, but Mangalore is not far behind.

The incident that happened on Monday, October 14 made not only lifeguards who work at Panambur beach proud, but also people who visit the beach for recreation.

Padukonaje Sanjeeva Nayak's three daughters Suganda (22), Pratima (18) and Revathi (25) got into the water to play. But a huge wave unexpectedly hit the three sisters and almost swept them away from shore and further into the sea. But the alert lifeguards (Unfortunately their names are not available at the moment) did a heroic job by rescuing all three and bringing them to shore safely.

People who witnessed the incident congratulated and appreciated the work of the lifeguards, and gave a piece of advice to those who go into the sea despite odd weather.

An eyewitness who spoke to daijiworld said that he panicked looking at the three girls getting washed away. There was a huge outcry from people who gathered around. "Unfortunately I did not have my mobile phone or camera with me at that moment, or I would have captured the heroism of the lifeguards," he said.

whoever you are, whatever your name is you talk like the politicians! When a person is on the verge of death, you dont see who is saving you a woman or a man, doesnt matter. Do you ask for a female doctor to operate a close-call patient who can be saved by anyone when no woman doctor is around? A good suggestion, but seriously sex, caste or creed of an individual doesnt matter when it comes to these services that cannot be repayed for in any form! Get a life is all I have to say to you! God forbid if you are in a situation of danger, people dont look for your kind of discrimination.

Great job by the Lifeguards. Life Guards must be introduced by concerned towns during day time hours. Swimming at safe areas must be identified and timings must be given for swimmers or visitors to get into the water, thus saving many a life.

So far only boys and youths used to drown in the sea when playing or swimming. Now the ladies that too one family rescued by the Lifeguards. The parents of these three girls must thank the rescue team who saved their lives by risking their lives. Really their courage needs to be appreciated. The District Administration should give proper awards to the rescue team. Well done boys.
