Mangalore, Oct 22: 'Olympus 2013’, an inter-batch cultural fest organized by Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) was inaugurated at Academy Hall in the college campus here on Monday October 21.

Dr Tessa N Kaneri, staff advisor of the committee, gave an introduction of the fest.

“This year’s cultural fest is as per the Greek mythology. It is called 'Olympus 2013’, under which eight groups have been formed; they are Poseidon – batch 2009, Ares – batch 2010, Athena – batch 2011, Hephaestus -  batch 2012, Artemis – batch 2013, Apollo – AHS, Hades – Interns, Zeus – staff and PG,” she said.

Father Muller's Charitable Institutions have come a long way ever since the commencement of the venture by Father Augustus Muller over one hundred and thirty years ago. The seed that was sown then has grown into a mighty tree. From a small beginning FMCI has now different departments and particularly The Medical College which has come under the management of Rev. Father Rudolph D'Sa who has an excellent track record. Of course Father Patrick Rodrigues who has the credit of Master's degree in Health Care from a prestigious University in U.S.A. is the guiding factor having been elected Director of FMCI over six years ago. Under his guidance the institution has grown in different directions. On the Hospital side Father Richard Coelho is rendering excellent service. On the homeopathy side there is Father Vincent Saldanha doing a great job.

It was indeed an excellent idea to have Matharani Mathias as the chief guest. In the galaxy of professionals it is good to see Dr. J.P. Alva, Dr. Saniv Rai and others.

My good wishes are and will always be with Father Muller's - an institution of name and fame.
