Delhi Metro denies buying Chinese coaches

New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS): Delhi Metro Tuesday denied reports that it had bought coaches from a Chinese company.

"Delhi Metro has neither placed any order nor received any Metro coach from CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive as claimed by the reports," a Metro spokesman said.

Xinhua reported Oct 26 that CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive, a subsidiary of Chinese train manufacturer CSR Corp Ltd, has sold 21 cars to "New Delhi's subway system".

Xinhua said the sale marked the company's second order from India. The company exported 15 metro cars to New Delhi in 2010.
