Mumbai, Sep 21: Singer Tulsi Kumar on Monday released her new Afro-pop track ‘Raanjha Ve’, blending contemporary Afro-inspired beats with an Indian melodic sensibility to explore themes of separation, longing and the difficult process of letting go.

Composed by Abhijeet Srivastava with lyrics penned by Shayra Apoorva, the song has been directed for the screen by Ranju Varghese.

The music video follows Tulsi as she prepares for a concert, capturing her excitement and anticipation of taking the stage while she continues to carry an unresolved heartache.

Speaking about the song, Tulsi said she had been in a reflective phase over the past few months and had been taking time to observe and connect with her creative inspirations.

She said the journey of ‘Raanjha Ve’ began in January, with discussions around its sound, genre and lyrical direction. Tulsi added that she was closely involved in shaping the track and that Shayra and Abhijeet had become collaborators who understood her creative vision and persistence following their previous collaboration.

With the song, Tulsi said she wanted to capture the emotion between the desire to hold on and the simultaneous urge to let go.

“I didn’t want to approach this as a song that simply sits in heartbreak, but wanted it to carry a sense of strength and movement,” she said.

She added that the track was given an effortless and groovy quality, allowing listeners to experience its emotions while enjoying the music.

Tulsi also praised Ranju and Kadambari for understanding the world of the song and translating its emotions effectively through the music video.

“Some feelings find their way into songs, and ‘Raanjha Ve’ is one of them. I’m really happy to finally share it with everyone,” she said.
