Mumbai, Nov 15: A person hailing from Mangalore died after he fell off a train in the wee hours of Friday November 15.

The deceased is Monthu Maxim Fernandes (36), son of the late Joseph Raymond and Cecelia Pinto, and native of Belur parish under Mangalore diocese. He is survived by his wife Reshma and two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Mishola. He was residing at Mangalorean Milagres Society in Bandra here.

Monthu was an AC mechanic and was worked for catering business by night. On Thursday November 14 night, he did catering for a roce ceremony in Borivali and returned by train. He was sitting near the train door while his colleagues were in the compartment. At around 1.30 am when the train was between Goregaon and Jogeshwari railway stations, someone in the train noticed him slipping from the train. His colleagues alerted the police and searched for him. He was located in a gutter and then admitted to Bhagwati Hospital Borivali where he breathed his last at around 3 am.

Monthu had played a comedy role in a play presented by Kushal Group as part of the Monthi Fest celebrations organized by Vasai Konkani Welfare Association.

His daughter Mishola had recently developed some health complications and had to undergo open heart surgery. Monthu had to rely on his friends for financial assistance to carry out this operation.

What a tragedy!! Very shocking news!!! This MONTH was so jovial to us yesterday night and today he is no more!! Cant believe it. I was compeering Roce function of Mr. Kelwin D’Souza (S/o. Helen & Edward D’souza) yesterday at I.C. Colony, Borivili and in the same function he was serving food through Relish Caterers. He himself came and introduced me as he was Ex-Jerimerian, he was very jovial with me and my Group consist of Melony, Mercin, Julie & Gracy. While leaving the place, I thanked him for his service and he too responded me “AUNTY ANI MUKAR AMI MELTE RAVYAM”. Its our Lord’s wish, he is no more. Nothing I can do for him but only pray for his departed soul and to give the needed strength and courage to his young wife, small kid, his parents and all his Family Members to sustain this irreparable loss.

Very sad news!!! Why people are sitting near the door I can’t understand when you are sitting near the door you should sit with your friend’s together or you sit in the compartment. If you know why you are sleeping your friends can save your life. Who is traveling the train in Mumbai or in Mangalore my humble request to all Mangalore n’s don’t sit near the door. Please accept our heart full condolences. May his soul RIP.
