Mangalore, Nov 16: Pre Unique, the two-day state-level intellectual and cultural fest hosted by St Aloysius PU College ended on a high note here on Saturday November 16.

St Agnes College bagged the overall championship in PU category and Sharada High School in high school category.

The runner-up in college category was Sharada PU College and in high school category the spot was bagged by St Theresa high school. Host St Aloysius PU College was not eligible for the overall championship.

Students from as many as 63 PU colleges and 14 high schools showcased their talents in the two-day event.

The valedictory ceremony of the event was held at the college Pretorium on Saturday November 16 wherein Fr Francis Xavier Gomes, administrator of Milagres Group of Institutions was the chief guest. Fr Elvis C Lewis, principal of the St Aloysius PU College presided.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Gomes said, "Being an alumni, when I entered this college after 35 years, I recalled the days spent in this college. Since then, the college has achieved greater heights," he said.

The college has achieved greater heights. Education alone cannot help you achieve success in life. Food for body and education in mind is essential to face the challenges of life.

As the number of educated youngsters is growing, the serious question is of their placement.
Food, fuel and health are the major factors which weaken the economic status of our families.
Where our resources have been being spent and how we can divert them for better utilization?
Why we spend on imported, exhausting and expensive fuel energy, ignoring the flexible option?

Having so many talents and ideas, why we cannot try to develop a peaceful society and strengthen our economy and create a clean environment and become a developed nation?
While enjoying the free mobile technology and electronic media, why we need to spend high on fuel, to suffer health hazardous pollutions, high costs and inconvenient transport facilities?
Why cannot we think different, implement a concept change, to a revolutionary change, by making a world of difference?
