Mangalore, Nov 22: In a suspected case of murder, a youth from Bajal here died under mysterious circumstances in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia on the night of Wednesday November 20.

The deceased is identified as Asif (26), son of Abdur Rehman and Saramma from Bajal.

As per the information obtained, Asif was working for Live Safari Bird centre in Aqrabia near Al-Khobar. It is learnt that after work at around 12.30 am, Asif left home in the company car.

However, Asif did not reach home. He was found unconscious on Wednesday morning at a spot about 25 km from Aqrabia. Locals who saw him lying there informed the police and he was later taken to King Fahad hospital.

After undergoing treatment, Asif felt better and passed on his friend’s number to the police. But before the police and his friend could reach the hospital, Asif fell unconscious again and did not respond to the treatment. He breathed his last at 10.30 pm in the hospital.

Asif suffered injuries on his hips and head. Doctors who treated him surmised that he might have been hit by a car. The car key and his mobile phone were with Asif but the car could not be traced. His friends suspect that Asif was murdered and police are investigating the matter.

Asif who was working as a bus conductor in Mangalore went to Saudi four-and-a-half years ago. Two years ago he had come home on  vacation and he had planned to come home again in a few days.

Asif was the youngest child of Abdur Rehman and Saramma. Family sources said that they were planning Asif’s wedding.
