Mumbai, Nov 22:
‘Mhataro Chorbela’ a drama written by Francis Fernandes Cascia and directed by Joy Paladka has won wide acclaim from audiences across the Konkani speaking world. It is now all set to charm theatre fans in Mumbai, for a final time.

The drama which has broken one record after another has been seen by ordinary people, religious brothers, nuns, priests and bishops and has been greatly appreciated.  It has been staged 61 times in places such as Mangalore, Bangalore, Mysore, Mumbai and many foreign countries.

The drama is scheduled to have two presentations in November and December in Mumbai.  Its 62nd presentation will be held on Sunday, November 24 at 6.30 pm at Marol, Mumbai on Vincent Pallotti church grounds. The drama will be organized by Frank production, Mumbai under the leadership of Francis Fernandes Cascia and Joy Palladka.  The presentation will be in support of St Ignatious Loyola Church at Palladka. The organizers have requested people to come in large numbers and support a worthy cause.

The 63rd presentation of the drama will be held on Sunday, December 1 at 6.30 pm at Good Shepherd Church lawns, Four Bungalows at Andheri west. It is being held by the recently formed Good Shepherd Konkani group. "Please come and encourage the new group," says Francis Fernandes Cascia.

As the drama has been enacted in most parishes, it has been decided to stop its presentation after the 63rd show.  A new drama by the name ‘Phutulli Modki’ (broken pot) will be started soon.

Francis Fernandes has urged those who have not seen ‘Mhataro Chorbela’ yet, to watch it either at Marol or Four Bangalows to avoid regrets later.

The drama was enacted at Bhaidas hall at Vile Parle about 6-7 years ago.  There have been several changes in the drama since then.  Many punchlines have been added and the drama flows like a river in monsoon now. The transition from one scene to the next is smoother, and hence, even those who have seen it earlier are urged to watch it again.

The drama is written in simple language with meaningful dialogues, with a generous dose of humour that keeps the audience in splits of laughter right through.

The drama is among the best in Konkani theatre.  The organizers have urged everybody to come with their families and get rid of worries and tension by spending some time in laughter while also taking a message from it.
