Mumbai, Nov 26: The key objective of literature is to promote humanity.  The literature has to uplift the spirit.  India is the abode of diverse cultures and faith.

The native Kannadigas believe in co-existence in the society, while one ought to have real virtues to understand the true meaning of the literature authored by contemporary psalmist Kanakadasa, said Mysore-based litterateur and researcher Dr Kabbinale Vasant Bharadwaj.

Dr Kabbinale was delivering presidential address during the fifty sixth Kannada Rajyotsav celebrations that were organized by Goregaon Karnataka Sangh, at Bajaj auditorium, Malad (West) here on Sunday November 24 evening.

“We would not be true Kannadigas till we realize the intrinsic value of literature.  Although the western scholars commented that it is not possible to author mega poetry in this modern era, over 50 mega poems including those of legendary litterateur Kuvempu and M Veerappa Moily proves its potential for growth.  One can find most of English scientific terms in Kannada that has proved to the world its mastery,” said Dr.Kabbinale.
