Karkala, Dec 8: Karkala rural police on Saturday December 7 detained 13 persons from Gujarat who had reportedly come to Nallur-Peralke area to propagate their faith.

The group that came from Bardoli in Surat, Gujarat was reportedly engaged in spreading their faith in Karkala taluk.

When the group came to Nallur-Peralke, activists of Bajrang Dal objected and complained to the police.

Bajrang Dal activists alleged that the group was promoting conversion by going to houses of people belonging different communities.

However, Muslim leaders rubbished the allegations and said that the group had identified Muslim houses in the area and had visited only those houses to preach about Islam and strengthen their faith. They contended that the group had come from Gujarat to propogate their faith among their own community members and did not intend to convert anyone for any reason.

Sensing that the situation may go out of hand, the rural police arrived at the spot and took 13 members of the Gujarati group into custody. As there were allegations that the group members were moving suspiciously, the police clicked their photographs, noted down their addresses and got in touch with the Gujarat police to obtain more information about them, sources said.

The police, on the basis of information that the group was staying at Kariyakallu mosque, also called the people connected to the mosque to the police station and questioned them.

Police sources said that later on, all the 13 members were released on certain conditions after the head of the mosque gave a surety on their behalf.

A faith will be perfect when it follows 'live and let others live without any caveat'. If someone says i will let you live only if you follow my faith, and expand faith by holding a sword, it is far from being called a religion. I am speaking in general...

I am a born Christian, but if someone from other faiths try to convert me I don't think there is anything wrong, but the final decision is mine and mine alone, not BD,SRS,HJV or not the decision of some jobless groups. Having said that I have no doubts about my faith and people should be given the freedom to choose their own faith, who are these nutcases to protect or decide for others.

Dear Abdul Rafiq / Uchilla no body told that the other states people have no faith in Islam. When you are pointing out only Karnataka it shows you have no faith. So better to avoid giving this political comments on religion. What is difference in the religion of gujrat and karnataka. Only one who preaches about Islam he may know better than you. So my humbly request with you that please don't compare religion with politics. Thank u daiji

Today majority of Muslims are unaware of these events, these efforts are carried out to minimize the crime, if people have faith on the creator and hereafter will control himself in any aspect. Today the crime is increasing day by day due to unaware of his creator and the aspire of his life. Actual life starts from death and never ends, people are unaware of hell fire and paradise, we have forgotten that death is truth, nobody can eliminate death, these efforts are constant reminders to every Muslim to prepare for hereafter and prepare to stand in front of his maker (Creator) on the day of judgment.

    You are right.

But, this is not about preaching or religion. They came from Gujarat and these people worried that they could speak about atrocities meted out to Muslims in Gujarat.
