Billwara Association hosts 'Yakshagana Kala Prashasti'

Mumbai, Dec 8: The metro-based Billawara Association organized conferring of the late Acchu C Suvarna memorial Yakshagana Kala Prashasti – 2013 at Narayana Guru auditorium of Billawar Bhavan, Santacruz (East) here on Saturday December 7.

Billawara Association honorary president Jaya C Suvarna inaugurated the programme here on Saturday evening. The cultural Committee president C.T.Salian presided the function.

Jaya Suvarna conferred Yakshagana Kala Prashasti, comprising cash of Rs 10,000 each, citation letter each, memento each to renowned Yakshagana Bhagavat Sheni Shyam Bhat and Yakshagana instrumentalist Narayan P.Bangera on the occasion.  He also honored Chitrakshi Narayan during the programme.

The veteran Yakshagana artiste T R Shetty in his felicitation address lauded the conferring the award for the first time ever to instrumentalist.

The Association vice president Bhaskar M.Salian, secretary Mahesh C Poojary, ‘Akshaya’ Kannada monthly bulletin editor M.B.Kukyan, Bharat Bank former president V R Kotian, social activists Shankar K Suvarna and Kasappa P Suvarna were present on the occasion.

Jaya Suvarna honored during the programme for being elected as new chairman of Bharat Bank by the office bearers of the Association.

Bhagavat B Muddu Anchan rendered the prayers.  ‘Akshaya’ monthly bulletin editor Dr Eshwar Alevoor introduced the guests.  The sub-editor Harish K.Hejmady compered the programme.  The Association honorary chief secretary Jyoti K.Suvarna delivered the introductory address.  The cultural Committee honorary secretary Dharmapal G Anchan proposed vote thanks.

Sasiprabha Parinaya, Yakshagana play was presented by the artistes of Narayana Guru Yakshagana Mandali as part of entertainment programme.
