Mangalore, Dec 14: Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) shared the joyful season of Christmas with at least 500 children belonging to four different orphanages in a celebration held at Loyola Hall here on Saturday, December 14.

The children belonging to Infant Mary's Orphanage Centre, St Angela Home, Bejai, Prajna Counselling Centre and Jeevadhan, Gurpur - Kaikamba not only enjoyed the celebration but also performed dances and enacted meaningful skits on this happy occasion.

Their acts were highly appreciated by all who were present. The KORWA Christmas celebration also included dance and music by professionals as an added attraction. Bollywood dance performance by Beat Bouncers Troupe and the live music by Rising Star band was thoroughly enjoyed by the children.  Mimicry was next in the cultural program and the laughter and cheer from the lively audience rendered a cheerful note to the festivities. Santa Claus arrived much to the surprise and excitement of all the children.

Earlier in the programme, MLA  J R Lobo said that the true meaning of Christmas lay in sharing the joy of the festival with the less fortunate people in society.

"This is a beautiful programme. Christmas is not just a family programme but it should reach other people especially the poor. I compliment the organizers for hosting this wonderful programme. We spend lot of money on Christmas. But what we give to the less privileged is important” he further said.
