Kundapur, Dec 16: Kollur police on Monday December 16 arrested five persons who were allegedly planning to rob people from Kerala visiting Kollur.

The arrested are Mohammed Rizwan (25), a resident of Vamanjoor, Mangalore, Faizal (20), Mohammed Ali Shahnawaz (21), Saifu alias Saifuddin (19), and Harshit Shetty (21).

They were arrested after their car met with an accident near Vandse here. The police recovered their Swift car, machets, scythe, rods and a knife from them.

At around 5 am on Monday, the Kollur police who were on night beat came upon a car that had overturned at Chitteri near Vandse. On examining, they found three persons trapped inside the car. The police also found weapons in their possession. Two others who were in the car managed to escape from the spot, but the police were able to arrest them later based on the information provided by the three who were caught.

During interrogation, it came to light that the five had been planning to loot people visiting Kollur.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) residents Shyam Kumar and his friend along with their wives and children were on their way to Kollur temple at around 2.30 am on Monday. They were driving in a Santro car.

It is said that after they crossed Udupi, Shyam noticed a Swift car following them. On the state highway at Idoor, the Swift car tried to waylay Shyam's car. Shyam then drove faster and went straight to Kollur police station. He informed the police about the car that was chasing them and also gave its number. Meanwhile, the accused who were chasing them in the Swift car sensed danger and tried to make their escape. They were driving too fast, and as a result the car went out of control and overturned at Chitteri near Vandse.

Kollur police have registered a case and further investigation are on.

There should be sensors attached to all toll gates to track the guns, knives, & other danger weapons which these robbers use. Police should make a list of all these things and check with robbers, they will tell more. When such vehicles pass red indicator should blink. This is a serious case where they chased the family. Should be given 10 years behind the bar with 50 lashes on their backs. Now on all robbers should get 50-100 lashes/beatings on their back according to their status of crime. Police have done a good job, but give sufficient rewards/beatings so the crimes may come down.

Long time ago this type of looting on lonely highways was very much prevalent in and around Bellary/Ankola ghats, it has resurfaced again in not much isolated Kundapura!!! Families better avoid traveling at night in pvt. vehicles to avoid risk of getting mugged and looted and even risk their lives!! How far can the police patrol the entire length and breadth of highways!!

Police no FIR no court case,
    Just break their limbs
    No second opinion,
    Don't give them 2nd chance
    before their God father arrives
because major share goes to God fathers only...

    Encounter is second choice
    one in front of other
    one by one
    one at a time.

Such a punishment should be given to the 5 looters that no should do such type of act any more. Suppose if their plan had to work surely some innocent lives would have been lost, then whats the use of chasing the culprits, so act now and let everyone know who the robbers are so that society should chase them. I hope the new commissioner and his team will do a wonderful work to add more and more feathers to their caps. All the best to the police team. Good job done by the Keralite family, very smart move, all people should unite and report all such acts and non-sense that is going on in the society. Most of the people are carrying sophiscated mobiles do such recording and note such incident and report to the nearest police station.

Now looting tourists has started. All these 5 arrested looters are young men that too owning a car they loot travellers. May be they are regular looters. These activities should be nipped in the bud. The new Police Commissioner should try to curb such criminal activities.
