Bangalore, Dec 20: A massive length of 2,245 km of Kanataka’s rural roads are being upgraded at a cost of Rs 1,071 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) II.

Karnataka has received conditional clearance for upgradation of the rural roads from the Union Ministry of Rural Development on Monday, according to State’s RDPR Minister H K Patil said in Bangalore on Friday.

The Union Ministry also conveyed final sanction for balance works under PMGSY I for 28 road and 39 bridge projects.

The empowered committee asked the state government to correct the proposal module and upload the same on Online Management, Monitoring and Accounting System (OMMAS) with regard to detailed project reports of these projects.

While Karnataka had sought PMGSY funding for upgrading 2,550 km rural roads with 360 road works at a cost of Rs. 1,217.77 crore, the committee said that state’s entitlement under PMGSY II was limited to just 2,245 kms.

It asked the state to limit the size of the proposal within the entitlement based on the utility value of the roads.

The committee said the balance proposals beyond the limit could be kept in the DPR bank and may be taken up once a policy decision on the matter is taken by the Ministry.

Before issuing the final clearance, the state government is required to adhere to PMGSY II guidelines regarding DPRs, the committee said.

The roads proposed for upgradation should be through routes and major rural link roads leading to growth centres or rural hubs.

Such roads after upgradation should be declared as Major District Roads, the committee said.

It also said proposals with carriageway width less than 3.75 mts may not qualify under PMGSY II while proposals for carriageways with width more than 5.5 mts may have to be funded by state government on pro-rata basis.

On fulfilling these conditions, the Ministry would accord final clearance for the proposals, the committee said.

For BJPians, in their understanding non-performers, looters and characterless (porn watching) people are the good people and good people like our CM Sidduji make their life miserable as he is straightforward and clean in his governing the State and development oriented, champion of the poor class.
This is pricking BJP too much as they find by losing in Karnataka their chance of looting more has come to nothing and agitated that their spending on resort parties\cabrets is curtailed which they have to shell out from their own pockets or fleece someone for that.
As such, they keep commenting bad about the present "performing" Government with jealousy.

Nothing new about this rural road development works, in fact this was the work of “Vajpayee Government” under “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) successfully implemented all over India. In fact more than 75% of the National Highway Projects after independence were carried out in NDA rule only. But surprising is under Congress Rule, even rural roads too need 47 Lakhs per KM whereas NH with four lines carried out in 1.50 Crore per KM!!! So, you can imagine why this Government is keen to implement even NDA schemes too

    Dear Mr.SUJITH POLALI,

Which People have no faith in present Karnataka government? Only Sangh Parivar people do not have faith in the present government because they cannot loot anymore. After BJP looted Karnataka for 5 years people found faith only with Siddaramaih. BJP was pushed to third position for their deeds.

Our CM is sincere with clean image. After Devraj Urs he is the one who can bring welfare measures for poor and downtrodden. People have lot of faith with Siddaramaih and I am hopeful that he can live up to the expectation.
