Dawoodi Bohra spiritual head dead


Mumbai, Jan 17 (IANS): The spiritual head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, passed away here Friday following a cardiac arrest, an official said.

He was 102 years old. The end came at Saifee Mahal, his residence in Malabar Hill in south Mumbai.

As soon as the news spread, thousands of grieving Dawoodi Bohra community members rushed to Saifee Mahal.

    He was known as an ambassador of peace and goodwill. His leadership brought to his community remarkable economic, social and educational achievement around the world.

    Born in 1915, he was 98 years (Gregorian) old corresponding to 102 Hijra (Islam) years.

    May Allah give him eternal rest.
