Mumbai: Makara Sankranti festival celebrated at Gokula, Sion

Mumbai, Jan 20: The epoch day of Makara Sankranti was celebrated under the joint aegis of Gopalakrishna Public trust and BSKB association on last Tuesday, January 14 at Gokula in Sion with the group worship of Sri Satyanarayana.

Vedamurthi Sri Hari Bhat conducted the devotional programme in the presence of hundreds of devotees led by R L Bhat.  Sri Gururaja Bhat couple led the devotional programme.

As a part of cultural programme, popular Yakshagana artiste Kolyur Ramachandra Rao’s daughter Srimathi Meera Kumari led the harikathe titled ‘Daksha Yajna’.  The recitation of the story by her for nearly two hours was appreciated by the devotees present there.

Among the musicians, Harmonium was played by Shekar Sasihitlu and Tabala by Navaneeth Rao.  Gopalkrishna Trust president K R Rao and secretary A S Rao felicitated the artistes with shawls and flower bouquets.  Prema Rao conducted the programme.

Arasina Kumkuma and laddos were distributed by the women’s wing.  The programme got over after maha mangalarathi and prasada meals.
