Shocking: Armyman held for raping 14-month-old in Bangalore

Bangalore, Jan 28 (The Hindu): A 33-year-old armed forces personnel has been arrested by the J.C. Nagar police for allegedly raping the 14-month-old daughter of his colleague on Saturday evening. The suspect holds the rank of Naik and has been serving in the Army for the last 13 years. According to police, the neighbour and a colleague of the accused, who wanted to go out, left the baby with the accused.

Upon their return, the toddler’s parents noticed that baby was crying incessantly and did not stop despite repeated attempts to pacify her.

When the baby’s mother picked her up to soothe her, she noticed the child bleeding profusely and informed her husband. The duo rushed the toddler to a nearby hospital where the doctors confirmed that she had been raped.

The J.C. Nagar police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. The victim and the suspect have been sent for medical test and waiting report to initiate further action.

'Zero tolerance'

A release from the office of the Defence wing here stated: “An incident of an Army personnel indulging in a sexual harassment case of another soldier’s daughter has come to notice. An FIR has been filed against the suspect and the case has been handed over to police for impartial inquiry. The Army has zero tolerance for disciplinary cases.”

Same for Indian Army. Considering the bravest Army in the World. The kid is just 14 months. This is not acceptable at all. In this case, we don’t need an Indian Army to protect us. Are Our girls safe when they start raping our kids? In some states of India, the rapist were killed by unknown groups. Why can’t we do the same?

I do agree with many of the commentators here, as they have expressed in anguish, shock and emotions and I am with them too.

At the same time, won't u think, it is part of the mistake of the parents too. They have left 14 months old child with their colleague army men, who was alone in the house, to take care of them for some time.

They have forgotten old saying, MAN MIGHT BE OLD, BUT NOT HIS EYES AND PASSION. Parents have done an equal mistake without knowing the background of this army men, allowing the child to be taken care by him, alone for some time. It is like keeping fish in front of the cat, assuming it will not eat fish and going out.

Most of the rapes are taking place within 4 walls under the Sun.

There are many instances even the own blood related uncles have raped their own nieces when the parents have gone out and innocent helpless children were under their care.

This is a eye opening to all young parents never allow your children to take care by any men, including your own brothers if they are alone. The choice is yours.

This rapist army man who had done this vulture type heinous crimes should be just shot dead. That is what is required, Nothing more, nothing less.

    Herold,

I totally agree with you. The parents are equally responsible for what has happened with the tiny tot. A lone man is not trust-able under any circumstances - I don't know why this did not strike to the mother. What was so important to attend that she risked the safety of her own child ?

This does not excuse the man from what he did - he must be subjected to legal procedure.

    Lydia
The young parents due to ignorance have committed this err.
My assumption is, definitely in the family there were no elders to guide them and they missed their valuable guidance & advise.

What is required for the family is first counseling for both husband and wife, not to carry the guilt but to overcome it.

The parents have a big task ahead, how to upbring this child, who has been physically assaulted, to build her up emotionally & psychologically. At one point of time, during the child's growth, the parents have to confine to the child this incident. For that they have to prepare themselves to face the child for which they require right knowledge & guidance too.

@ Herald cunhaMangalore, when we cannot trust a friend with a small child, then we cant trust anybody.SO if you see, everyone is a potential raper. That doesn't mean we should have also some healthy thinking and trust in a friend. There are always who Dance out of tact.sadly here is one who misused their friendship and trust, and that poor Little child, that has to suffer. He will be certainly punished I hope.because in army punishment is mostly very hard I heard than in normal jails.

These days wherever sex determination is done at labs, parents won't allow the female fetus to grow, and whoever gives birth to female baby find it very very difficult to grow them coz of Devils like these people. If this continues, there will be a huge shortage of females in our society and as a result gang rape will further increase... I feel in order to protect our girls, we need a special reservation for Girls rather than reservation on the casts and community.
Hey, God, please open up your eyes, and save our daughters...
