China reports four more bird flu cases


Beijing, Feb 22 (IANS): Four more people were confirmed to be infected with H7N9 bird flu in two Chinese provinces Friday, authorities said.

A 50-year-old man from Changchun City in China's Jilin province was confirmed to have the virus by the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Xinhua quoted the provincial government's information office as saying.

The man, surnamed Liang, a poultry breeder, and is in a stable condition in hospital.

Another three H7N9 cases were also confirmed Friday in Guangdong province, including one death.

A 46-year-old woman from Zhaoqing City and a 69-year-old man in Jiangmen City are in hospital receiving treatment. A 64-year-old man from Guangzhou City, however, died Tuesday, health authorities said.

There have been more than 120 human H7N9 cases reported in China so far this year and at least 32 deaths, according to latest official figures.
