Three robbers held in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, Feb 25 (IANS): Three men allegedly involved in more than a dozen armed robberies have been arrested here, police said Tuesday.

Rubi alias Mubeen, a resident of Palwal district, Nazmudeen alias Billu from Mewat and Dinesh Mehto from Bihar's Motihari district, were arrested by a police crime branch unit.

The three -- in the 22-25 age group -- were arrested from the Gurgaon-Pataudi road Monday night.

They are involved in several crimes, including robbing of trucks in Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

"Rubi had dodged Gurgaon police and escaped from a moving train near Faridabad station Jan 1. He was then being brought from Gujarat after a court hearing there," Joint Commissioner of Police Vivek Sharma said.

Earlier, Rubi had also escaped from Madhya Pradesh Police custody.

A locally-made pistol was also seized from the accused.
