Muslims disillusioned with Mamata: AIUDF

Kolkata, March 12 (IANS): The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Wednesday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of making hollow promises regarding the welfare of minorities.

"Mamata Banerjee makes tall claims about the development projects for minorities but nothing is reflected on the ground. Muslims have become disillusioned with her government," AIUDF state president Siddiqullah Chowdhury said here.

Chowdhury, who tied up with Banerjee's Trinamool Congress in the past, claimed the Muslims would not stand by her during this year's Lok Sabha polls the way they did during the 2011 assembly elections.

He said the AIUDF would contest eight seats in the state with Chowdhury himself in the fray from Barasat in North 24 Parganas district.

Chowdhury said expelled Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Abdur Razzak Mollah would campaign for AIUDF candidates.
