Mumbai: Bhagawan Mahaveer’s 2613th birth anniversary celebrated

Mumbai, Apr 16: Akhila Karnataka Jain Sangha celebrated the 2613th birth anniversary of Bhagawan Mahaveer at Pejawar Mutt Hall in Prabhath Colony at Santacruz east on Sunday April 13.

The programme consisted of Incantation of Namokar, prayers, competition on Jina hymns, nomination of Lord Mahaveer, devotions, group prayers, incantation for peace etc.  Priest Nagendra Jain conducted the rituals and blessed.  Jain Shravakas and Shravakis sang the hymns and celebrated the festival.

All Karnataka Jain Sangh president B Muniraj Jain presided over the programme. Akshay Kumar Jain, organizer of Namostu Shasan Jain Pathshala Mumbai, Nagendra Jain and others present as guests of honor gave away presents to the children of the society and suggested them to inculcate the values of Bhagavan Mahaveer in their lives.

Akshay Kumar gave a sermon explaining how the soul of Mahaveer converted into various shapes before finally going to heaven and called on the gathering to follow the teachings of Mahaveer in ourlives.  The world can survive only with devotion of the almighty. There is turbulence in the lives of people due to lack of values.  We can have a life of prosperity and peace if we follow the life of
Mahaveer, he said.

The life of Mahaveer should not only be in thoughts but in deeds also.  His life is an example not only for Jains but for the entire world. The people who are born as Jain are holy indeed, he said.

Nagendra Jain said that there can be peace in the world only by the teachings of Mahaveer.  The Jains should follow them in their day to day lives and should be an example to the society, he said.

Secretary of the Sangh Santhosh Jain, Treasurer P Anantharaj Jain, Joint treasurer Sampanthkumar Jain and others were present on the dais.  Vice president of the Sangh, retired teacher Jayaraj Jain felicitated them.

Loknath S Jain, Jaya A Jain and administration committee members were present. Sangh’s Shravakas and Shravikis and children presented cultural programme. Secretary Pavanajaya Ballal welcomed the gathering.  Raghuveer J Hegde conducted the programme. Jayaraj Jain proposed vote of thanks.
