Six children injured in UP clash over cricket


Lucknow, April 16 (IANS): A minor scuffle between children during a cricket match turned ugly in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut town Wednesday when people took sides and hurled stones and fired blanks, police said.

More than half a dozen children were injured in the clash that was triggered by a fight during a cricket match in Partapur area.

The quarrel during the match flared up into a major clash as people from both sides reached the ground and began pelting stones at one another.

Soon, shots were fired in the air after which police rushed to the spot and resorted to force to disperse the warring mobs.

The injured have been admitted to a medical facility while cases have been registered by both sides.
