Udupi, May 5: CPI (M) launched an indefinite protest at the service bus stand Udupi, on Monday May 5 in a stance to urge the government to intervene and stop the practice of 'Made Snana' and also caste discrimination in Udupi Shree Krishna Math.
"Culture reflects human dignity, it has an intimate relationship with the welfare of the community. It should be the root strength of universal brotherhood," said by Shivarama. He urged to clarify the rules and regulations of the Udupi temple.
A devotee alleged that she was subjected to caste-based discrimination for consuming food at Udupi Sri Krishna Math dining hall, recently.
According to Vanitha Shetty, she was asked to stop having lunch along with her Brahmin friends. Shivarama alleged for such kind of act, it is really a inhuman and it may hurts the ego of a person.
"It is a social cruelty and the government must focus on banning caste-based discrimination and 'Made Snana'. They have to take immediate action," said Shivarama, state president soon after garland to Kanaka statue at Udupi car street.
J V Srirama Reddystate secretary of CPI (M), said that 'such rituals are inhuman and uncivilized'.
He condemned this ritual and alleged "BJP was a strong supporter of such practices in temples because of which they are named anti-religious etc."
"Pejawar Swamiji must be ready to stop such customs but they are justifying themselves with regard to the beliefs. During the BJP rule, the state government had submitted to the high court that it would modify the controversial practice of 'Made Snana' at the temple. The modification formula described 'yede snana," he said.
He further said "the party has submitted an appeal for implementation of an ordinance against such blind beliefs a year before; but, ironically they have not yet taken any action. CM Siddaramaiah also has not taken any further step and he is only doing this for seeking votes. RSS and BJP have joined together for strengthening the power. CM failed to lead a secular in state."
In reference to the Kalladka Babu case, he said that the government did not implement it in the administration.
He proudly said that they were the first to protest in support of Kabeer, who was a victim of the shootout case at Sringeri.
He questioned the Pejaveer Swami credibility on culture. He alleged that the Swamiji consorts to dual policy. " He was visiting the deprived classes and also invite them to his mutt.," he said.
He said that he was very happy that the BJP was loosing power in the municipality.
He further challenged that if the CM has real concern on secular values, he must declare a ban on discrimination without wasting any time.
