Two witnesses identified Salman Khan in the court during the hearing of the 12-year-old case. They told the court that the actor who seemed to be drunk, fled the scene soon after the accident which left 1 dead and four injured.

One of the witnesses is the owner of a laundry in suburban Bandra, where the actor had run over his vehicle on people sleeping on the footpath.

For the record, Salman is accused of driving an SUV onto five sleeping men in 2002. The actor faces a fresh trial after prosecutors succeeded in substituting the charge of 'causing death by negligence' with the graver 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder'.
