Mumbai, May 6 (Daily Bhaskar) : Main witness in Salman Khan hit-and-run case on Tuesday alleged that he was threatened. Initial reports suggest that an application has been moved to the court. The witness’ statement comes hours after he testified in court today that he saw the actor getting out of driver’s seat.
According to reports, the witness in the hit-and-run case reported to police in Bandra that he received threatening calls after he testified in court.
Two witnesses identified actor Salman Khan in connection with the 2002 hit-and-run case and told the court that the actor was so drunk that he fell down, then stood back to his feet, and ran away from the accident spot.
Salman Khan is facing the charge of running over five people sleeping on a footpath outside a bakery in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one and injuring four others. He was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Four witnesses, who went missing for years were recently traced by the police, are crucial for the prosecution. Their deposition has become more significant given that the actor’s bodyguard, constable Ravindra Patil, who had testified that Khan was drunk at the time of the accident, died of tuberculosis in October 2007.
