Mumbai, Jun 27: It's a tune we've grown up with and it's meant to move and inspire us — we identify with it as our national anthem.

The Indian national anthem penned by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore has also been a part of the moviegoer's routine in Mumbai. So, it is but natural that cinema theatres would want to compete in raising their patriotism quotient.

The Shringar cinema chain wants to make sure that the experience is visually as well as aurally satisfying.

So, the Bharatbala production of the national anthem put together by music composer AR Rahman will be played out just at the start of every film in their theatres.

“Bala has put in so much of effort in this song. Filming it and also getting the artists together. It was a great experience for me also to work on this song,” Rahman said.

“It was refreshing to hear the song after five years,” Rahman added.

Several well-known voices in the music industry came for the launch of the song including, Pt Jasraj and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

“Now, everyone will get a chance to respect the national anthem,” classical singer, Pt Jasraj said.

“People might watch a violent film or a romantic film but it is a reminder for all that whatever happens we all are Indians and this is our national anthem,” singer Kavita Krishnamurthy said.

At a time when national pride and patriotism are often relegated to debates, the video which features some of the greatest voices in the music industry including, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Bhupen Hazarika, hopes to connect with the audience on an everyday level and at no extra cost.
