Canadian author Farley Mowat dies at 92

Ottawa, May 8 (IANS): Well-known Canadian author and environmentalist Farley Mowat died Wednesday at his home in Ontario province at the age of 92, Xinhua reported.

One of Canada's most widely read authors, Mowat was a natural storyteller with a gift for sharing personal anecdotes in a witty and endearing way, said Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

His literary works almost always reflected his deep love for nature and animals.

Among his best-known works were Never Cry Wolf, a fictional narrative about Mowat living among wolves, and Lost in the Barrens which is about two teenagers' adventure in the Arctic.

Mowat wrote about 40 books and these were translated into 52 languages.
