Obama congratulates Modi, invites him to visit US

Washington, May 17 (PTI) : President Barack Obama on Friday congratulated Narendra Modi for his electoral victory during a telephone call and invited him to visit the US at a mutually agreeable time to further strengthen the bilateral ties.
"The President invited Narendra Modi to visit Washington at a mutually agreeable time to further strengthen our bilateral relationship," the White House said following the maiden telephonic conversation between the two leaders. The phone call was stated to be brief.

Modi, during his US visit would be eligible for an A-1 visa, State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said. "The Prime Minister of India will be welcomed to the United States. As Head of Government, Modi would be eligible for an A-1 visa," she said.

The US said that Modi, during his US visit, would be eligible for an A-1 visa.

In 2005, the US State Department had revoked a visa that Modi had for travelling to the US on the ground of alleged human rights violations after the 2002 Gujarat riots. The US has repeatedly said there is no change in its long-standing visa policy relating to Modi but he is free to apply for a visa and await a review like any other applicant.

During the call, Obama felicitated Modi on the BJP's success in India s historic election. "The President noted he looks forward to working closely with Modi to fulfill the extraordinary promise of the US-India strategic partnership and they agreed to continue expanding and deepening the wide-ranging cooperation between our two democracies," the White House said.

Soon after the call, National Security Advisor Susan Rice wrote on Twitter - the micro blogging site that the US looks forward to working with India to continue to build a strong partnership between the two largest democracies of the world.

"We congratulate Narendra Modi and the BJP on its victory in winning a majority of seats in India's historic national election, which saw more voters cast their ballots freely and fairly than in any election in human history," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters.

Secretary of State John Kerry offered his congratulations through twitter and said that he looks forward to working with the BJP on expanding their shared prosperity and security. "Once a new government is formed, we look forward to working closely with the Prime Minister and the Cabinet to advance our strong bilateral partnership," Psaki said.

"As President Obama said in his statement on May 12, we also congratulate the people of India on concluding their national elections and look forward to continuing our strong partnership based on shared values," the spokesperson added.

India's relations with U.S.A. are essential for peace and stability of both the nations who have many identical qualities and patterns that should compromise many minor differences.

India's changing economic outlook added with India's emergence as a Technological power has lot to do with continued guidance, help and support from the United States. They have helped us, and will continue their help because they have placed their confidence in us.

With more than 2 million Indians happily settled in the U.S.A. with close collaboration and cooperation with their "Maathra bhoomy" has a great deal of support to enjoy from the United States of America, because this country appreciates the values of ancestral roots and connections and provides continuous support.

The relationship between India and the United States should therefore be nurtured at all times because it is good for both the nations. More than 100,000 students each year have lived in America in pursuit of higher education, and a large number of bright students have been willingly embraced by the mainstream of U.S. Society not only because they are bright and smart but also because they hail from India, a country that has produced some of the best reliable citizens to suit with many professions and career opportunities that will always continue in this powerful nation that will benefit India.

Please, Mr. Narendra Modi, we need your noble leadership to consolidate all the essential ingredients so that both India and the United States will continue to enjoy the relationship built on mutual friendship and solidarity so that millions of Indians will continue to enjoy the confidence and friendship that has always extended to us in our daily of life in this great nation.

We therefore solicit your noble leadership that will solidify our mutual relationship between the two great nations so that a stable and peaceful life will prevail amongst millions of people that deserve continued peace and happiness.

Good analysis, but its not that US 'helping' Inida...but its 'necessity' for them to work with Indian work force...for multiple reasons like talent, cheap manpower availability etc., If the Indian government since independence would have aimed for the 'best', we could have at least called as a developed nation if not no. one nation in the world!

Modi was denied VISA for specific reasons. Now that India has accepted him as their leader it is obvious Obama is least bothered.
It is the International Diplomacy to invite the newly elected leaders. This is pure business.

This is not the time for revenge or vendetta. This is time for to be together, with world and India. Its time for Muslims to forget the 2002 riots and move forwards and stop wining feku, murderer etc. If you still think so you are least ignorant and we will never see a developed India. Let me clarify you one thing Modi was been in Gujarat for last more than 10 years and 2002 was the first and last and only riot took place during Modi era. There was riots in 1969, 85, 87, 90 and 92 in Gujarat . Why don't you talking about it ? Because for all that 5 riots took place congress was ruling Gujarat . And now suddenly a riot takes place during Modi everybody becomes anti modi. Because he is form RSS and BJP. Modi became first CM 2001 end and riot started soon after he became CM. But he did bring it in control from last 12 years. Gujarat Muslims have being living peacefully with Hindus. SO its time for you anti-Modi to stop blaming him and welcome him and join with us and become Indians and focus on developing India than fighting over religions.
